has anyone experienced rattling in their door panels? especially when the bass gets off. i do not have bose so its just OEM.

any common things that cause rattling?

also, since i do not have bose, i am considering putting in some aftermarket speakers in the doors. anyone have any recommendations?

I have a rattle/buzz coming from my door when I accelerate hard. Let me know if you find out what causes it!

As for speaker recommendations...I love the sound of Focal speakers, but they are expensive. What is your budget?

I do not have a budget. I buy what I want. It may just take me some time before I can actually get it.

I have always liked JL stuff. They make great subs but I do not know much about their midrange sizes.

Does anyone know the size speakers that are in my front and rear doors? I assumed that they were 6" or 6.5"

On the drivers side, i hear a rattle with the music, and it sounds louder when my leg is against the door panel. I do not hear anything when I accelerate. I will probably remove the door panels sunday and cinch everything down really good. in the FSM it mentioned using some silicone and duct tape. If I see anything that could possibly rattle or vibrate, I will do my best to take care of. I will also report anything that I find to be an issue.

I am always scared to take things apart, for fear that I will not be able to put it back together or will break something in the process. I bought my interior tool yesterday and a small box of extra interior clips that Nissan uses.

On a total side note, Joe, do you have any pictures of your engine bay after you installed the intake? I PMd you about install walkthrough and you said the provided directions are very detailed. I was more inquiring about pictures of what it looks like installled. Thanks in advance.

Well I said budget because how far do you want to go? Are you replacing the head deck? This will have an impact to the type of speakers you can install. If you keep the OEM deck, you have to use speakers that have 2ohms impedance. If you replace the deck with aftermarket, then you can run the "normal" 4ohms. However, this may be only with the Bose system. I'm not 100% sure that the non-Bose speakers are 2ohm.

Anyway, the front/rear doors for non-Bose systems look to be 6.25" speakers (according to Crutchfield).

Here's a pic of the R2C intake in our engine bay:

no i am staying with factory head unit. i do not want anything to look aftermarket. i honestly think that it looks great the way it is.

in other words, i will just grab 4 new 6.25s and replace them in all 4 doors.

i may have trouble finding 2 ohm mid range speakers though.

joe,

i actually just finished putting he door panel back on. i just took it off, tightened EVERYTHING on the door down nice and tight. then tightened everything on the inside of the door finisher. i put a tab bit of electrical tape around two wires that ran parallel in case they were buzzing. i put it all back on and i hear no rattling. i will road test it for a few weeks and see how everything is.

*edit*

one more question:

why would I have to buy 2ohm speakers if i am keeping the stock HU? the factory tweeters that are in there say 4ohm on the back

still no rattles. I am going to do the passenger side door finisher soon. maybe if i have time in between traveling for the holidays.

interested on feedback in reference to the impedance of the speakers.

thanks.

ok, with the door finisher rattles all gone, i have noticed a new one. and its even worse. sounds like the steering wheel tilt linkage is rattling. anyone experience this?

i do not have electric tilt on my steering wheel. that reminds me of the trim on an outboard boat motor.

Not sure on the impedance of the non-Bose stereo speakers...but they may have an indication on the speaker itself.

there was. thats what confused me. ill just stick with the same impedance of what is there already. now that i am getting these rattles out, it sounds much cleaner.. may not worry about replacing them

Gents,
I believe that if you keep the OEM headunit, you will need a LOC to use aftermarket speakers because of the impedance difference.
