rattling/grinding at 3k??
rattling/grinding at 3k??
for about the last couple weeks ive noticed at just about exactly 3000 rpm my car makes a rattling/light grinding noise. the noise is noticeable with the radio off and is appearant in all gears (harder to hear in higher gears as road noise increases). doesnt matter if im accelerating past 3k, decelerating through 3k, or keeping steady at 3k. doesnt make the noise above or below but right at 3k. happens with heater or a/c on or off although i have noticed there is always a small amount of air coming through the vents even if i have everything off. even had the hood open and tried to get my little brother to hold it steady at 3k and it made the sound but i couldnt pin point the noise. its definatly coming from the engine bay and im maybe thinking the fan clutch?? i dont really know. any ideas?
