I've looked around the forum, but haven't found an exact match for my problem. I have a piece of tin on my exhaust, under the vehicle between the cat and the engine, that endlessly rattles. It is right under the driver seat and seems to have no purpose but to drive me insane. Is this the heat shield?
Anyway, I cut off the clamp and the loose rattling parts, and did the old duct tape trick. This works great for now, but I know it will not last. It's nice and quiet for the moment. So has anyone taken this piece off? Do I really need it? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for getting a good performance exhaust in northern Virginia?
My ride is a 91 240sx (KA24DE). I've had it since 91. The exhaust is getting pretty rusted. I've seen some Acuras and Hondas whipping around with performance exhausts, but they just sound like scooters to me. I've read that a good exhaust can boost your horse power. I want to put the beast back into my 240. By the way, this forum saved me from selling my car.
