Rattling coming from under my hood of 98 Pathfinder

I have a 98 Pathfinder SE and I have a rattling sound that sounds like it is coming from under my hood when I start the car in the mornings and it sometimes comes and goes when i am idling at the light. I can not figure out what it is. I do not think it is an exhaust plate because if I put the car in neutral the sound goes away. MY car does not idle rough and is always steady between the 0/1 mark on the tachometer. I think it sounds like it is coming from the fuel filter. Occasionally my check engine light comes on as well.

Noises are tough to diagnose from here, but try the simple things, go under and check that heat shield
