is it the cat or the exaust? maby the transmission, but i dont really think so... have a friend rev it or turn the throttle by hand with the hood open so you can pinpoint the problem. im interested to know what it is. probobly just somthin loose

lol, ya i just did my entire brake system, my steering wheel would move back and fourth and my pedal would pulse up and down rapidly. make sure you break the pads in correctly.http://www.stoptech.com/faq/data/faq7.htmlsee if you can find were the vibration is coming from. if it does it when your not moving, its not the brakes. maby a baffle inside the muffler broke off or if its coming from the engine, maby a bolt is loose and a bracket has become loose and is floping around. good luck with the brakes and the rattling.

Check your heat shields. They are notorious for rattling like a mother****er sometimes. Get them tightened up and it solves 99% of people's rattling woes.

i took my sheilds off, still rattles, but not as much, i think its coming from the transmission, ill see if it changes with redline mtl. my shields were rusted to hell, had to use a tourch to remove them.

I think v0va had the problem with the rattles. Try out heat shields, they are often the problem, and easy to check.

where thedown pipe bends to go to the back of the car is where the sheilds typically come loose.

I have this kind of problem too. It's my vibration problem that i've had for almost 8 months now. My interior really starts to rattle more loudly at 2k rpms. I'm pretty sure it's my injectors because i've changed everything else.

Check your timing. Misfires sound like exhaust rattles. That's why it's called "valve rattle" sometimes. I had a similar problem with my SR. I thought it was a heatshield or the DP, and couldn't find the source of the rattle, until my mechanic suggested it was timing. We checked the timing, and it had advanced to like 10 degrees BTDC.

My injectors are so dirty that they are mis-firing causing my engine to vibrate which causes rattles in the cabin.

I've got 93 240sx se (135k miles) with a similar problem. My rattle is coming from the top lower front of the engine and happens between 2800-3000 RPMs (driving or parked). I used an stephescope (similar to a doctors..but with a metal probe that sticks out) to isolate where the rattlle was coming from. Bought a Timing gear/chain set and am going to replace it and leave off the top and LH guides which Nissan (and everyone else) says are not required. You can use a 2-3 foot dowel rod or a cut off broom stick, put it in your ear (LOL) and place it on the engine to locate the source of the rattle. Hope this helps!
