I just had the new exedy stage 1 clutch kit with tob and pilot bearings and fidanza flywheel put in. Things feel good but there is an annoying rattle or buzzing sound that starts sometime just after coming off the clutch pedal. It goes away right when you press down on the clutch pedal and comes back right after releasing it. Its mainly noticable during deceleration or coasting when in gear and also during slight acceleration. Very noticable on the highway. It sounds like its coming from the front. It comes and goes and it isn't always there and it varies. I kind of had this before at times before the clutch and flywheel were put in but its more prevalent and noticable now and the pitch is different. It varies more as well.

Did you replace your throwout bearing when you changed your clutch?

it's the idler bearing on the input shaft inside the transmission. no ifs and or buts about it, theres no way to get rid of it without a rebuild.

i don't recall of the top of my head if the 240 has a bearing or bushing, but either way, eventually it gets pretty bad. if its a bushing it can seize and rob a little poweer, damage the case and biuld a lot of heat. if its a bearing, it will spread debris throughout your trans. then do the rest. either way you should definately get in there and git'r'done.

A similar noise was there before that would occur at the same point in time but the pitch is different and its louder now. The original noise was there when I got the car back in '97 at 38K miles. If the transmission needs to be replaced then I would say the 240 transmissions are bad.. no transmission should ever be replaced that soon and I don't really even drive it that hard.

I have had a lot of problems with this car and its very clean and was clean when I got it. At this point I probably will not by another Nissan. My parents have 2 hondas and have never had a single problem with them. One is now 9 yrs old and nothing besides just maintenance. I just got done doing the rear main seal with the clutch. I replaced the crank and oil pan seals 2 and 3 times now respectively. They were first done in '99. Car was only 4yrs old then.. Sorry, but I don't get it!!

it's not that the trans is bad, its just a faulty bearing. it could be anything from a snafu at the plant when they made the part, to a problem when they assembled it, all the way to having debris or impurities in the fluid. people could have paoblems right away, while others with the same car wont have any. there's a lot of variables.
