Hi, I just recently replaced my clutch myself. I've already searched for any transmission rattle or driveshaft rattle but couldn't find anything similar to my problem. I hear the noise right under the gear box and it's just a rattle that only rattles in first around 15 mph then after that it's ok. It's a weird noise. Just wanted to post and see if anyone would know what's up. Thanks.

Consider yourself lucky, mine does it up to at least fourty and possibly higher but after that the wind is moving too fast to accurately hear it.

It could be as simple as a loose trans/engine cover. For your sake, I hope its as simple as tightening a few screws. In the worst scenario, it's possible a trans bearing could be going out. Especially if you hear it in the trans from under the gear box.I had a similar noise coming from mine so I pulled the drivetrain and inspected all of it. Turns out the input shaft (the shaft that connects to the clutch disk) had a front bearing that went bad. It popped a few balls out creating a rattling sound much like large bb's banging around the bottom of a steel can.

My symptoms seemed to be most prevalent in 1st and 2nd gear under very light power. To much load in acceleration or deceleration would clear the noise.

Here is what I found.

good luck.
