Rattle
My 2003 Nissan Altima's fan (right side) rattles when it idles. What would cause this to happen.

Bearings or something stuck in it most likely.

With the car off, inspect the general area. Make sure no wires or hoses are entering into the fan area. Also inspect all around the fan housing to see if the fan has contacted it. Check the fan blades themselves too to see if they have abnormal wear (as if they have contacted something).

Hmm...I read the question wrong and thought he was talking about the inside fan that's in the passenger side footwell/dash area.
