Had the car for 10 days and it has already developed an annoying rattle coming from somewhere between the midpoint of the dash and the glove compartment. Not sure exactly where.

Only thing I can think of is the left semicircular guide of the glove compartment door, which has a lot of left/right play in the slot. Otherwise, the rattle is coming from somewhere inside the dash.

I'll take it in tomorow since I've only had the car 10 days.

Anyone else have a similar rattle, and if so, what was it so I can tell the dealer?

Hmmm...no, but I hope you find out what it is. That kind of stuff drives me totally nuts. The last two times I drove my wife's Versa I heard two rattels. One was a pen that my son had left in the rear door armrest. It took me a while to locate the source. The other one was a pair of sunglasses that my wife had up in the sunglass holder in the roof. I seem to be the only one that ever notices noises like that. My wife and son are totally oblivious to them.Good luck!

I thought I had a rattle in that area. After further inspection it is in my overhead, somewhere around the map lights. Gotta take that down sometime to see what it is.

Thanks for the tips. I completely cleaned out the CD storage area in the dash and the glove compartment, but I didn't take the wife's sunglasses out of the overhead. I'll try that before I wind up making an unnecessary trip to the dealer.

I've got the exact same problem in the exact same area, just haven't gotten around to taking it in yet. It's especially noticeable at lower speeds going over bumps. I emptied the glove box and side-compartment, so I know it's gotta' be something in the dash. It hasn't been annoying enough to force me to schedule service....hopefully they can take care of it for you.

Eastval- if it's not the sunglasses and the dealer figures it out, I'll let you know what it is.

Sweet.....I'm a little wary of pulling the dash apart myself to check it out as I'm afraid it might be something in the airbag configuration.

Mine is not the storage area itself, but actually in the headliner around the map lights. I'll have to remove that piece to see what's rattling up there. I can stop it by putting my hand on the headliner or on the map lights.

That sounds like it could be the wiring to the map lights or the overhead dome light.

That almost sounds obscene.

I noticed mine has a rattle in the catch mechanism for the sunglass holder. I just shot some white grease in the catch and the rattle went away

Took out my wife's sunglasses and the rattle stopped. I could have sworn that rattle was coming from the dash, but I guess not.

Thanks, everyone!

YAY!! I'm glad it was a simple fix. When I noticed my wife's glasses caused that problem in our Versa, I bought her a lens cloth to keep up there. It pads the glasses so they don't rattle, and she can use it for a quick wipe to clean them.

Just like several people above have found out, 99% of the rattles you will hear are items in the car somewhere (sunglasses, pens, CD cases, coins, etc.) Before you go taking the dash appart, check around really well.

Mine I discovered is definately the sunglasses compartment in the overhead. Even with nothing in it. Gonna get some foam/rubber or something to keep pressure pushing out on it, should work.

Check that huge glove compartment for anything small but heavy that might moved up & down or around while driving over bumps or rought surface, I got backup cell phones, 2 way radio, scanner, portable tv & other items stashed in there, along with tire gauges, extension & power cords, and CD's - and after carefully arranging & putting paddings around the heavier items, the occassional rattle are gone.
