My 2002 has a hollow rattle - almost like many chevy trucks experience with their intermediate steering shaft: When the road is less than perfect there is what shounds like a hollow rattle - like something is loose in the suspension, but muted. The car doesn't feel like anything is loose, just sounds like it.

I've crawled under the car but can't find anything loose, any ideas?

2002 Q45 w/ sport suspension.

49,000 miles. Maintenance done at dealer except for the last 2 yrs (11,000 miles). I purchased it 2 weeks ago.

A hollow rattle/clunk sounds a lot like a worn-out shock/strut. Or an upper arm.

I'm betting it's time for new struts.

Jerry and his employees seem to know a lot about Infiniti Suspensions, so might give him a try. He won't mislead you.

Could be, or even strut bearings.

I would bet on tension rod bushings since you do not mention them in your post in IOM.

Could we consolidate these threads there, 96Qowner?

Just a shot in the dark, but I just last week noticed that the hood on my '05 Q45 is a little loose. I can make it clank when I push down on it after the hood is fully latched. I also noticed that my fog lights are loose. I'm going to have both issues taken care of when I take it in to the dealer for a steering system flush in two weeks.

You might want to check these two things out on your '02 before you spend money chasing a suspension problem that may not exist.
