Rattle midcar in exhaust

I have a really loud noise that started couple days ago on my '08 Infiniti M45x with 184 thousand miles. It stays the same noise when accelerating. No clue what it could be. Help!!!!

Heat shields at many positions around the exhaust tubes have a tendency to fall off over time due to rust. They can make lots of rattle noises until they do finally fall off. Stainless steel band clamps can often be used to secure these loose pieces or replacements might be available.

Yeah, you're gonna have to get under there and start pounding/shaking some stuff with your hands and fists to see what might be going on.

Could be a heat shield, could be your cats went bad and a chunk of the honeycomb started travelling down the exhaust, could be a section rusted away and the pieces are ratling up against each other.

Anything it might be, best to simply get under the car and look at things and try shaking stuff and see what is loose.

Agree its likely just a loose shield. I just fixed mine on the driver side right at the Y pipe. $2 fix with a steel clamp. Noticed the shields on both my cats are basically rusted through. No rattles though. My baby is getting old!

Mine did this too. Heat Shield. Cheap fix at mechanic.
