I have it....seems to be more in the sunroof cover and when I push on it, it stops.... it stops. I would like to find out the cause, but I have a rattle in the dashboard and a seat that is squeaking as well that is more pressing.

I have stuffed foam in all kinds of different configurations with no success. If I push up on the headliner or overhead console it stops but I feel a little foolish driving with one hand pushing up not to mention how tired my hand gets. I hate rattles, this one is driving me crazy. I will be working on it today if my hands stop bleeding. I will let you know if I have any success.

just pull the cover back and it would stop. i get rattles everywhere in my m45 sport due to the stiffer suspension. rattles from the front center speaker to the rear deck speakers. all i could do is blast my music and not hear a thing lol

By front sunroof area, do you mean the front center console with the sunroof controls and sunglass holder?

The rattle is most likely coming from the defroster vent. Being in a spot that gets a lot of sun exposure warps them a little. My seat squeaks too, I just drop the hammer and roll a window down....no more squeak.

After 2 weeks of stuffing foam in many different configurations with no success, I had a friend drive while I listened and touched and I found it. It was the wind deflector for the sunroof. I am not sure what was rattling but I stuffed foam top and bottom of the wind deflector while in the closed position and it is gone. We are in the deep freeze here in Maine so I dont have to use the sunroof for a while. I will work out the details when the warm weather returns. I hope this helps anyone else with a similar rattle. I understand these cars are prone to rattle but mine has 70K and this was the only one.

anyone find a solution to the rattle in the headliner? Mine seems to be coming from near the back of the sunroof. The warranty should cover this correct?

I do have some of the seat noise you all speak about. Glad to know it is not just my car. I thought it was just because I was a big guy. I reported it to the dealer and he tightened the bolts that hold the seat track to the floor. But he basically told me to expect some sort of noise because of all the motors and range of motion.

actually it's a rattle from the roof/headliner area....not the seats..

it's gotta be something with the parts of the sunroof.. i opened it up all the way and i couldn't hear the rattle... i close it up and the rattle is constant. i'm gonna just take it to the dealer and have them look at it since it should be under warranty...

When taking delivery in '03 of my new '03 M45, I had a rattle in the headliner that was coming from the area behind the sunroof. This seemed to only rattle when riding over a rough road or slapping the headliner to locate the noise area. I returned to the dealer the next day. Upon the removal of the headliner, they discovered that there was an "extra" and therefore loose piece of rigid insulation "flopping" around up there. Though removal of this "extra" piece cured the rattle, I've often wondered was it truly extra or just not secured during assembly. Never-the-less, I no longer had the rattle. Possibly those posting with roof rattles might have find this as a cure.

Question for Gibz4 - did the dealer fix the noise from your sunroof?

I have a similar rattle / squeak in my 2008 M35x. We can make it go away for a while if we vent and then re-close the roof but it always comes back...

My concern is a vibration buzz that seems to be related to the speakers (not talking about loud or high bass stuff here) that seems to be coming from the hat shelf area. Anyone else dealt successfully with this?

Add me to the list. Here are my rattles:

1) Glove box area
2) Passenger door speaker - may just need a new speaker if the paper cone on the stock one is blown.
3) Sunroof/sun glasses compartment area. Seems to quiet a bit when I CLOSE the sunroof cover thing. This seemed to crop up after Infiniti moved my MIC to the sunroof area from wherever it is normally. I didn't catch it till a lot later, so too late to complain to them about it.
4) Rear deck
5) My arm rest creaks like a MOTHER.

For a $60k car, I'd expect a lot better than this! Even at 94kmi.

have the same rattle (somewhere in the overhead console, between the windshield & sunroof). When I push upward on that console & keep pressure up, it goes away. Since I'm applying pressure inside the cabin, do you think in my case it's also the wind deflector as mentioned above?

And IlvaKol, even $300,000 cars have rattle issues - if that makes you feel any better. But your M seems to have more than common. Did you buy it sued? Maybe the other owners were hard on her?

Nope, Of course when i brought the car over to have them check, they couldn't 'recreate' the issue. It usually happens in the morning for me.

I have the same noise but its coming from the driver side rear headliner area, i have to push it up really hard once and the rattle goes away for a while, then when it gets bumpy again the rattle comes back.

I bought my 08 M45S a month ago and did a very long (1+ hour) test drive and there were no noises. Now on cold mornings there is a significant rattle coming from right above the map light assembly. I thought it was coming from that but I pulled it down and then drove and the rattle was still going on. I opened the sunroof visor, still there, opened sunroof, still there. I parked and had the sunroof open to see if I could find the dam rattle. My sunroof pop up wind deflector was ridiculously loose. I have no idea how to tighten it. I drove and held it down tightly and the noise was gone. I'm not saying this is everyone's issue but I feel like it is definitely mine. I'll try to figure out how to tighten it up when I get home.
