I know this has been brought up before and I did search I just don't have the attention span to read all the posts. I have a rattle coming from right in front of me when I drive, I can't tell exactly where it is coming from but it sounds like the dash or something near the wheel but I don't know exactly. It is getting worse and worse and am about to litteraly rip my whole entire dash apart and void every aspect of my warranty to stop it.

Does anyone know what I am talking about it is very annoying and sounds like it is right in front of me when I drive.

Please Help obviously the dealer will tell me they don't have any idea and I'm hearing crap.

Mine "sounds" like it is coming from in front of me but it is actually coming from the far right passenger vent. I whack it a couple of times and it goes away. I just haven't had the time to pull that part of the dash off to see if I can wedge something in there to stop it.

I have the same problem at 30000 miles on my V and when it goes in for the 30k service they will take the dash apart to find the problem. I suspect that it is a loose relay that has fallen out of it holder by the speedometer, that's my guess anyways.

What do you mean passenger vent?? I could have swearen to go it was coming form somewhere in front of me, but of course trying to listen and drive on the highway get's complicated and any passengers don't really give a crap enough to help or they aren't annoyed by it. At least someone knows what I'm talking about rattling wise.

Anyone else have this problem and smacked somthing and fixed it? or better yet figured out where it's coming from. Yea I'm just about to hit 30,000 miles as well.

Do you have a S or SL? I have a SL with the special dash decor that is in front of the passenger seat. If you sit in the passenger seat and look to the right side of the dash you'll see their A/C vent. Where the plastic molding meets the vent is where my rattle comes from.

Alright so if I understand correctly from what people are saying, the rattle is coming from either the corner on passenger or driver side near that little window and vent? or near the windshield? this thing is a pain I will figure out something I guess, I thought it would have been a loose scew good thing I didn't go ahead and tighten every bolt screws across the whole entire front of the car.

Thanks

If anyone else figured out or has any knowledge it would be great to hear fixes or findings. Thank You

Best thing you can do is have someone drive your car while you are in it so you can poke your ear around to try and narrow down the source location. Then you can start to try and find the solution to the rattle. That is how I found mine. I was driving and my fiance was crawling around and trying to find it on a road trip we took last year.

Okay got home looked around and found this,

This is on the drivers side near the little window, the A/C vent right where the two parts come together. The little gap or crack or part that comes up is what I'm talking about

[IMG][/IMG]

Is this what people were talking about?I can't really tell if it is or isn't because well if I push it down it doesn't matter but I can't really apply a lot of pressure on it anyways. Thanks

THE PICTURE ABOVE ^^^^^^

Is this normal does everybody have this problem?? I pushed down on it last night and the rattle wasn't as loud so I think that may be the problem but it is still pretty loud no matter what.

Somebody mentioned a rattle from the back near the hatch I'm just curious if anyone remembers that and what / where is it?? Odds are its just crap in my trunk but still fix all the rattles at once

Rattles in the V have been common. It is an entry level car.

Hi thatguy1234,

I had a rattle in the front air vent near the small window too. Took me 1 minute to fix it. I jammed a black piece of metal( the size of a 5 cents coin) in there. It jammed pretty tight. No more rattle.

I also had an annoying as hell rattle it the back. Took a ride in the the backseat while my g/f was driving.

I found out that it was the "clips" for the carpet cover behind the backseat that seemed to clip not hard enough.

I have another dash problem this week. Each time I turn left there is something in the dash that moves right and goes hitting somewhere. Nothing in the glove box. Pretty sure if I strip the dash out I'll find a peso or something lol.

Hey, I purchased my V in April 2008, and during the summer months of 08 I heard alot of rattling coming from the hatch area. However, it seems to have disappeared. I have no idea what it was. Kind of annoying, but other than that during the summer of last year, I have not heard any other rattles.

READ!! FIXED!!!! OR AT LEAST RIGHT NOW!!! Okay, well I went to the dealer yesterday met a guy named lotto (cool name) he was a service tech and he drove around with me and identified the problem!!

Sadly it's nothing that would identify it for everyone who has had this problem, check though.

Apparently when I had an auto dimming mirror installed by a legit installation company they didn't secure the A pillar and push it all down and underneath it they didn't fully secure the cords.

He removed the A pillar on the driver side and said that, that was most likely the problem, I watched (nice guys) it seems like that would be the most likely problem, drove that night no rattle

SILENCE!

So very happy techs were great and worked with me until they found the problem, only thing I can say for others check the A pillar push on it, every now and then it could loosen up maybe.

GOD BLESS THE TECHNICIANS AT MY DEALERSHIP!!!! NICEST PEOPLE EVER MET!!

Hi !

I am only at 14,000 km (have owned my V since May 2008).

I have this constant rattling in the front dash .. sounds like the windshield clicks off the dashboard. And a non-stop rattle (something loose?) in the left side of the dash.

Been to 3 dealers to have it fixed. Their solution - 3M tape in between the dash and window. Does it help ? NO FREAKING WAY !!!

The console under the radio has always creaked and cracked. So now I have my own concert of creeks - and it drives me insane.

Called Nissan Canada - they were no help at all.

I am going to call back the dealer next week after my business trip and schedule another appointmen (tired of missing work for a brand new car).

I think I am also going to tell them to not give it back till the noise is completely gone.

Has anyone else heard of sticking 3m tape in between the dash and window ? Doesn't that just scream "NOISE MAKER" and would make a buyer (should I ever decide to sell) question my car ?

Alright I WAS WRONG! damn it, the rattle came back in less then 24 hours, it's not as bad or as often which means that the service tech probably did something nearby the rattle.

Dealer called me, (didn't call them at all) they were doing a follow up call, they left me a message asking me if the rattle was gone completly and if not or he said if there was any hint of something rattling that I should bring it right back in and find the head service manager and he told me he would take care of me and my car and work on it until it was fixed. REALLY REALLY NICE GUYS!

So I will bring it back and they will either fix it in like 20 minutes max or say we need to look at it longer and offer me a free Nissan Quest shuttle ride to basically anywhere I need and back later.

Will let you know if they find something when I go, anyone else make any new discoveries?

The arrogant Nissan service manager told me every low-end car came with it's rattles. I told him that I forgot to look for that part on the contract.

I'm pretty sure there is a fix. When I'll have a sunny and warm day I will install my new radio. I will disassemble the whole top part of the dash and will silicone the s*** out of it prior reassembling.

Pretty sure this will help.

Yea good luck with that, when I decide to go to the dealer I will let you know what the problem is or if they find something, I can't believe the dealer would tell you that that's ridiculous.

I guess every low end dealership has some as*hole service manager in it.

idea: it's worked for me a couple of times when a guy is being a total prick to you at a dealership or not doing a simple task that they should ask HIM for the number to coroporate headquarters then when he gives it to you ask to use his phone as your dialing ask him for his name and any other type of info like the name of the dealer and crap like that, a lot of the time they get scared and do the job no more arguing or being a pain in the a**. DONT LOOK TO ANGRY LOOK CALM AND RELAXED AND CONFIDENT YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING

hope that made sense if not then well I don't know

I will probably go next week usually when it is something like a rattle or something of that nature if you ask the service tech will typically bring me back to show me his findings or to have me point stuff out when they are working on it.
