So, I did some work over the weekend, here's what transpired.

First, what I did was take the spare valve covers I have and take a wire wheel to them to get any of the crap off if them I couldn't get with brake cleaner, then I took some 500 grit paper and smoothed everything out pretty well (doesn't have to be perfect for rattle can work).

Then after everything was to my likeing, I cleaned them off again with brake cleaner and let them dry for a day or so. I painted the drivers side cover over the weekend, and did the passenger side one today. The driver side cover has two coats on it and a few touch up areas, and the other one just got one coat today. Will get another one on tomorrow, weather providing, and when they both have two, will shoot a third and final coat. But here's where I am so far.

Here's the passenger side, before wire wheel work. (Click on the thumbnails for larger pics)

Here is the first coat of paint.

Here is the drivers side after two coats of paint and a little touch up.

I'll have a couple of free weekends and if the weather holds out, I will swap them over. I also want to try and repaint the center coil pack cover, but I don't know if I really need too or not. It's in decent shape as it is, but just dirty.

Also, how many pieces is the front cover? I want to take it off and spray it in flat black also, but I have never done it before. And do I have to take the CAS off of it to do it? I'd rather not if I didn't have to, as I don't want to mess up the timing.

Thanks. Put the second coat on the pass. side cover today and replaced the gasket on the driver side. Started working on the coilpack cover as well. Need to figure out a way with what little tools I have to make some vents on it too.

mine is rattle canned also... just with rattle can car paint and clear enamel

Thar she blows:

had to whore it up a little bit... I'll end up powdercoating them probably.

I'm planning on painting my valve covers black and the timing belt and coilpack white to match the car 00-53-FF in case you're wondering what color. I think it should look decent, give a little more pop under the hood. autox I really like that blue!

the black looks really good. i did mine in gold because that was the only color i liked that they had in stock at autozone for high temp paint. i plan on redoing it all again when i do my timing belt cover. just havent decided on the colors. 2 coats primer. 2 coats red. 3 coats gold. 3 coats clear

i had the greddy on my SR and loved it. my greddy for my RB was the first thing i bought for that motor . i also hate how the stock IM sends the intake over the valve covers. the Greddy makes the engine bay look alot cleaner imo

anyways i apologize C33LaurelRacer for thread jacking. post of pictures of your valve covers installed. i think the black gives a REALLY clean look

No worrie man, yours look pretty good. I just hope the regular rattle can paint I bought won't bake off, or else it would have been all in vain. I did the coil pack cover today, drilled a few holes in it to help with some heat dissapation and I'll throw another coat on it tomorrow. Thinking about hitting it with a coat or two of high temp paint if I can find it. I don't speak Japanese so it's hard when I go to the hardware store...lol

I don't know whether to take that as a clue to start a new thread, insult or sarcasm. Either way....
