I'm not gonna do my suspension for another two weeks or so. I'm replacing what feels like a cheap set of shot monroes on all 4 corners with KYB GR-2's and some Vogtlands (this combo has well-reported comfort, handling, noise and reliability, and runs for about $430 shipped).

But while I'm waiting, a big shake started happening at right about 60 and above, I think it's in the driver's side up front. The car stays aligned good though. Furthermore at low speeds, hitting potholes or any bump results in a pronounced rattle up there as well.

I have a Hayne's manual, nut am really not yet well-versed on the proper identification of all my front suspension pieces.

So if I'm about to do my struts and mounts (and add an FSTB), what other pieces should I look forward to replacing? If it's bushings then I'll gladly order them from Energy and replace them myself... I just gotta figure out WHAT I am to replace first. It could be all sorts of stuff I'm sure, from the A-arm bushings to steering linkage to the front sway bar. But I figured I'd run my symptoms by you guys n girls first in case someone else has had the same issue.

I just wanna be prepared, and wanna make sure that when I slap the Vogtlands/KYB's/new tires & rims on that the rest of the car is ready.

Hi there,

I'm feeling the same thing with my 2k SE. Shake in the wheel at highway speed, a rattle when going over bumps, and I get a metal rubbing sound when I'm on the brakes and turning. I noticed that the Passenger side hub has some play in it (side to side), so I believe this to be a bad bearing and/or hub. Jack your car up and check it out.

I hope that this helps.

Ever think of getting your wheels/tires balanced?

The best thing to do is to check for components that have play in them when you have the wheel off. Check the ball joints, lower control arm, sway bar end links, hub bearing, etc.
