This is follow-up on the stinking a/c post and, my issues with controlling the incursion of rodents into my 92 Q's hvac system. I again went in and pulled out the blower and, although not the humongous amount of a month ago, there was still considerable nest material the little ****s had drug in there! They avoided my earlier attempts at screening access routes, and, Dcon tidbits under the hood!

Anway, after again cleaning the blower and air box beside it, I managed to fashion some screens from fine mesh hardware cloth, and I placed one piece between the air box and the blower housing. I cut another one in a round fashion, and placed it BEHIND the inlet hole behind the fan blades. Neither piece hinders the blower, or so it seems!

Only time will tell if this most recent attempt to control these extremely smart creatures will work! Absent success, this time, I will go out and find me some stray cats and hire them to sit in the Q!

Without really knowing how the fresh/outside air intake is on your car I would guess that it is located on the right side below the trim located at the bottom of the windshield. Pretty much how all cars are setup for the HVAC. I have both Honda and Nissan and that how they are setup.

To access that area the wipers must be removed and then the trim. The trim is held in place usually with screws or those pop in plastic rivets. There is a gutter under there for water drainage.

Once you do this you will see the opening for the air outside air inlet on the right side. Usually a raised rectangular shaped box. Somehow the rodents are able to get in that area and into the air inlet opening causing you the grief.

I would fashion a piece of hardware cloth to fit the inlet box opening and that should do the trick.

Disclaimer: I have not actually dismantled anything on a Q45 as of yet.

Good luck. Jack
