ok, just put in my Greddy RAS. just wondering if that plate on the exhaust side needed to be put back on. it didn't seem to fit with it on.

EDIT: nevermind it's the baffle plate and some say you can use it and some say to snip the sides of the plate to make it fit. :icesangel

my question though, whats the purpose of the baffle plate? maybe it's safer to have it on?

Dunno I think it's to keep oil from splashing around too much but dunno. I'd reckon Nissan put it there for a reason. Also the tomei SR20DET buildup manual has the part snipped and installed so there must be a reason for it.

I used an angle grinder and cut off the edges. I just felt happier with it on there, even though it's pretty obvious that it doesn't do all that much :)

I figure the nissan engineers know a bit more than I do, so I'll trust them ;)

i'll put mine back on one of these days. I'm just too lazy to go pulling my valve cover again

Yeah, I hear that. I've had my plugs out and valve cover off and on about 4 times today to clear out my flooded motor and check/check/re-check timing in an effort to get my car running with the AEM EMS :)

the guy that swapped the motor into the car routed the heater hose so part of it covers the rear left corner of the valve cover. It makes installation of the valve cover a PITA. I need to get back there and cut the hose shorter, but I'm too lazy.

Also, it sucks when you get all the nuts started on the cover and realize you can't find one of the metal discs that cover the last rubber grommet. Then when you can't find it, you get paranoid and pull the valve cover to find it lodged in the head.

lol yeah I feel you on that one man. The metal discs got lost on my buddy's valvecover and one of the actual rubber grommets popped off when putting the valve cover back on. lol

i find it easiest just to remove them all and pop them back in place when you're ready to start threading the caps back on. then they don't pop off and fall in your head.
