You don't see these everyday...

If I didn't have a kid going to college, I might spring for one of these badboys...

EDIT: Seems our ebay poster has dropped his asking price about $24,000

Just someone trying to "work the system". They posted on ebay and will end up paying the "listing fee", but they don't plan on ever paying any thing for a completed auction. They just want people to contact them for parts.

I thought I was going to look at a jewel encrusted platinum door handle that opened itself when it sensed I wanted to enter the vehicle. I'd pay 24k for that.

Fake or real bling and a great keyless entry or a self made one could do that for far cheaper.

What so special about them?

It's only for one side too.

WELL, if you don't know, we certainly can't tell you!

I already messaged the guy and bought it behind the scenes. My daughter can go to community college. I would have waited for the right color, but we all know the pearl white rarities can fetch 30k...too rich for my blood! 24k is just right.

By the way, suckers, I negotiated him down to $22k. Read it and weep.

This thread reminds me of one of my big "I wonder why" thoughts about modern car design:

What happened to flush aerodynamic door handles. In the 1960s we had grab-handles. In the 1980s we started getting flush handles. In the 1990s flush handles became ubiquitous. Now in the 21st century we've taken several steps back to eyesore protruding door handles? I don't get it.

Granted the door handle in the auction is great looking for one of it's type. But the body-color flush handle on my Maxima is nicer.

personally i think i would prefer the y33 style to the point where i am considering doing the work to swap them out.

to me the handle is much more funtional. being able to open it from the top rather than bending down to pull from under is a huge + (tall with low car). i kinda like the look of them too, although it wouldn't be enough on it's own to make me think twice about it.

+1 for bar handles, I don't know why anyone would want anything but a proper bar handle.

Eh...I'm tall and have a pretty low car and I have never found myself wishing I could operate a door handle from the top. It's not ergonomically natural. Even ignoring that, how often do you use your door handles? The superior aesthetic takes precedence in my book, unless it's some fantastically awkward design.

well you may be tall but i bet i'm taller and you might be lowered but i doubt your low. my door handle is literally at my knee (fantastically awkward) and until i perfect my dukes of hazard entry i will continue to use my door handle exactly as often as i drive my car. unless you know of another way to get in...

as far as ergonomics, i would dare to say that pulling directly out from an overhand position is moreso than an underhand lift, even without taking height into account. but i mean seriously...

aesthetics are open to intepretation. just cause you liike something better doesn't really make it better.

i've never had a problem with the oem handles (other than having to bend down to open them which is admittedly my fault) and without your post i probably would never had thought of the y33 handle being a solution, so thanks!

Certainly aesthetics are all opinion. Pull-bar handles have always annoyed me, though. Whenever I get in my parents' Max (an '04) the handles always strike me as annoying. Just seems more natural to reach and pull rather than grab and pull. I dunno...I'm a details kinda guy so I notice little things like that.

I'm 6'4''. My knees are right at the bottoms of my door handles...the tops of the fenders are even with the tops of my knees. I have to bend over to open the door and I actually never really noticed that until you mentioned it.

you must have some long shins. lol. at a couple inches taller and at least a couple inches lower sounds like handle positioning is the same.

To continue the hijacking.

I've sold 6 rear door handles of the G50s in our junkyards to local hot rodders at the annual Frog Follies. They love the chrome and that they are flush. Not to mention the overall elliptical shape works very well on many 30-40-50 model vehicles.
