Got the rough cut out from the machinist. I spent a good deal of time cleaning up the edges. Then I got the holes to line up and got them drilled out. Soon I say. Soon.

I got 4 holes countersunk, tested it out and realized that the old man from the fastner's shop gave me the wrong bolts. So I won't have a bolt-able assemble until tomorrow. As you can see I am super close to being done.... Just 4 more holes to sink. And the transmission will have 1/16" of freedom to be moved around. :woot:

Got the bolts. Everything bolts up. Pretty slick set up as you can see.

rb26 efi harness with a chipped skyline ECU I'm guessing.

^ almost... I got a brand new engine harness that I have to doctor up to my needs. But I weigh out the options. Standalone would be better in the long run. I would be able to tune for/wire up any part's store sensor that meets my needs instead of having to hunt down rb26 sensors and electronics. I would also do away the CAS and put a crank angle sensor to get rid of the belt noise. I think tg knows a reasonable HP figure. :chuckle:

Soo your going to remove the CAS so you could put in a c.a.s? :poke:
What are you going to use instead of the stock crank sensor?
I can see you making around 700bhp with the way this build is going. Im a little lazy to read the whole thread even tho its only 2 pages but bottom end? The pistons look sexy but crank n stuff?
again awesome project!

I got in mind for a mix of hall effect encoder...that I can do up a trigger wheel about the crank.. I got a few ideas for that when I get around to getting sensors to work/characterized.

crank is stock.

I did a little work today, I was trying to fit the transmission in the tunnel. Turns out I will have to do a little banging. But I did the cutting first.

This is where I am going to bang in a little.

And here are the parts that were just in the way and just had to go...

In short.

Going to use a nissan crankangle sensor and trigger wheel... going need to play around with it for it to work.. going to do this while I am playing around with the other sensors... oil temp, pressure, water etc...

Didn't do too much just took the rear sub-frame to it's basics.. One thing to note.. if you are interested in a JDM 180sx differential, it bolts in.. But you need to swap the differential covers... and either drop ABS.. or swap the output shafts too or swap ring and pinion. Just a picture of the 48:11 whereas the NA is 49:12. I'm going to clean the NA cover a little bit, it's caked in grease. But after that it's going back in the sub-frame, and bolted onto the car frame so I can determine transmission positioning.

I didn't realize the 180sx differential was better, I learned something today.

Better for acceleration yes, top speed or touring, no. It isn't a major improvement over the NA diff. But if you had the TT diff you would notice the difference. But the 5 speed on the TT makes it need the lower ratio to allow it to be in boost longer to make it's power. I am not using the 5 speed, but a 6 speed so I have a little room to play around. But in the end, it's my tires that will determine how fast.

Yeah I knew top speed would take a hit. My future plans are lsx involved after I'm finished with my degree so boost wouldn't really be an issue for me, but you make a great point.

Haven't been doing much work with the car. Omaha Nissan Convention has been happening this weekend. And soon I will be applying for 40 hour work load for the rest of the summer.

I love your approach of making different parts with your specific requirements work within your project, a very old-school approach that I've not seen happen enough with the Z32.
Keep up your great detail and explanations of what you are doing and why, it's VERY informative!

^ Thanks :D

Did a little front end work today. I cut back into the strut tower minimizing it some more. Looking better too. Also I did some cutting with the cross-members I have to create a general setup for me to fab.

saw-saw, jig-saw, and my little angle grinder using thin disks. I got more to cut on the driver side mount. But little by little it's shape is being revealed to me. :gapteeth:
