I periodically search CarMax for Ms and I have seen many peeps pointing out how hard it is to find an M56. Currently, there is one in Texas that I was half-ready to buy, but I simply won't have a black interior. Dunno, why, but black interior has always put me off. Anyway, check this out - car is in Tx but they can send the car (by transport) to anywhere in the states, This M56 has under 40,000 miles and every possible option minus the rear seat theater but I'm not sure that was even offered after my model year.
Bear in mind that it quailfies for the MaxCare warranty which covers many many things Infiniti does not offer in their highest level extended warranty.

*** lest any panties get twisted, I am NOT affiliated with, nor am I in line for any compensation from CarMax, and further, they do not even know me.. I'm just a very satisfied 4-car purchaser from 3 of their stores.

i think most people looking for the M56 here want one with the sport package. that being said this one is nice but carmax is usually known for charging more than most places and they don't haggle.

Interesting, I see that it has Forest Air. I thought the Forest Air wasn't available on '13 and later models

My 2011 M has it. It came standard with the Deluxe model.

i kinda hate it. on warmer days, i get cool air in my face then it all the sudden becomes hot so i end up just cranking the temp down to keep it constantly blowing.

I have to agree with this statement. Also the color white is not my favorite, it just screams Hertz rental car lot sale. The M56 is a hard car to find in an upgraded color and with Sport options, I personally love a black interior

The 56 is hard to find but there was a loaded one I drove before getting mine. Like what was said above the sport or aero package were the only easy is get one. The others, no offense just aren't me, but now that the splitter is available is not so bad.

Absolutely correct. CarMax is always at least a few hundred dollars higher on every car and they do NOT allow any negotiation over price. CarMax has a strict policy governing any car they place on their lot. I know all dealers claim this as well, but after buying 4 vehicles from different locations, I assure you that for CarMax it really is true. If they find anything that could cause trouble after the sale (engine knocks, poor suspension, etc.) they do not put the car on the lot.
Case in point: My neighbor drove a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII. She is elderly and the car sat in the garage more than she drove it. If I remember correctly, it had less than 35,000 miles on it and looked brand new inside and out. When it came time for her to stop driving, her son took it to CarMax to sell it to them, they told him the front and rear shocks were not up to par, and the steering / ball joints would need repair soon. They told the son the car did not qualify for resale at CarMax, and offered him what they thought they could get for it at an auction. Most dealers would have replaced the shocks and then sold it for top price hoping the rest of the car would not go downhill until the 30-day warranty expires.
I am not happy about them refusing to negotiate or even match other dealer prices, but I am 100% confident that I won't have a problem with any car I buy there (I never have), and if I do, they will actually do something about it.

I really liked this M56 because it is sooooooooooo hard to find one with the 5.1 surround system and all the tech. If not for the black interior, I would have gladly paid the fee to have it shipped to Ft Lauderdale.

I have a fully loaded (all three packages with the Java interior) M56x and would rather the X than the S...didn't the S come with that 4WAS system? I've heard nothing but crap about it (including a few threads on here of people having some major issues and warning lights with theirs). I do wish the X had the ability to go full RWD (in sport mode for example - even with VDC off and sports mode on the thing will still fight and try to maintain traction) so I could get the rear to step out on round-a-bouts but whatever, that's small potatoes.

I was thinking over the next year I would sell my M56x and buy a sports car and daily driver to replace it. I thought I would buy something like a used Civic as a daily driver but with prices so close to what my M56x trade in value is, I'm wondering if I should just use the M56x as a daily. It only has 50k miles.

I avoided all the options. I wanted the S brakes but knew I could (will) add them later. The 4WS, the big bose amp, the CC radar, even AWD were on my avoid list. That said this car is still a good value vs. what was available when I bought my car. White is not my favorite coloe either but throw some nice bronze wheels on it and it would be a stunner.

:wtf2: I know this may sound weird but I wish my M56S was actually a M56xS. I would have loved the AWD especially since the car spins the 275/40R20s practically at will. Just drop the pedal onto the floor and it spins to 60 mph and often beyond. Knock on wood the only problem I have had in 104K miles besides the typical VK56 oil consumption and cleaning the carbon buildup on the valves is 4th gear is starting to go. Struts need to be replaced as I have one leaking and the mount is going. Popping going over speed bumps. Other than that it is still rock solid. Oh and it has rear axle click like most RWD independent rear Nissans. Warped rotors all the way around but that is my driving style.

That being said my 2011 has the Forest Air system as well just lacks the scent canister offered in Japan.

Brake Motive on Ebay sells a complete slotted and drilled with pads shipped for $250. They are actually Stop Tech brakes and on many sites they are double that. That would take care of the vibration. I had bad vibration only at freeway speeds but it was unsafe to continue to have that on my car. Plus it had the brake light come on every time I accelerated which was annoying as hell.

I needed the (awd) option here in Ut. but didn't realize how hard the xS was to find at an affordable price.

good luck with all your projects, just one at a time. That's what I'm doing.

I agree it's hard to find one locally, but there are plenty out there if you're willing to travel or have one shipped to you, which is where Carmax came into the picture for me. You have to pay the shipping costs even if you change your mind, but for me, after viewing the boat load of pictures and looking at the Carfax and other info, I made my decision to buy the 2012 M56x I looked at. Yeah you may pay a little more than a used car lot but like Lars said, they go over these cars pretty good, and you get the warranty coverage. When mine came in, it had a few scuff marks, the passenger door puddle light didn't work, and some of the letters on the driver's side sill plate were burned out. They took care of the scuff marks on site, and suggested that I go to a local Infiniti dealership to take care of the rest. They said that there are certain things that they will subcontract to the appropriate dealership if they can't or don't have the right tools or equipment, but it would take more turnaround time vs me just going directly to the dealership. They would cover the cost if need be...however, turns out these items were covered under the standard warranty, and it didn't cost Carmax anything. Going this route was a positive experience for me, and I was going to do it again when my wife wanted to trade her Mustang for an Acura RDX. The dealership was able to find her one so we went that route instead. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Congrats, mate! I love how CarMax is easy to approach about issues like your kick plates, puddle lamps, etc. Most used car lots would simply point the their window sticker where it says "as is" and leave it there. Hopefully you added the maxcare warranty so you'll have 99% bumper to bumper coverage for the next 6 years.

Just bought my 2011 M56s from CarMax about 2 mouth back with 32K miles, and I got the warranty. I was looking but not looking since I miss out on a 2013 black with 55k miles at the dealership, I wanted to pay 22k the laugh and told me 30K so I waited 2 weeks they went down to 26k an the sold it. but a month later I found my car for 25K at CarMax. Whose laughing now.

Congrats Mate! You're right about the prices. The only time CarMax changes a price is when they decide it's been on the lot too long. The best thing to do is what you did. If the price is higher than you like, walk away and keep looking. Glad to hear you got the warranty. That is an amazing warranty!

Miles seem a bit high the mileage, but then again I haven't look at the market of an M56S since I bought mine about two years ago. Not a fan of the eBay grill that was placed on there, but that's an easy fix since you can get a brand new OEM Midnight grill for about $125 shipped. I see that the car has Bose speakers integrated in the seats which should make it a Deluxe package. Did they discountinue using the Japanese ashwood trim on the 2013 Deluxe equipped models?

No Japanese wood on the sport models I believe
