So I just bought my Z about a month ago from the second. I am now the third owner. The original reached out to the second owner trying to buy the car. He told him he had already sold it to me. He then told him that the engine that is in the car now is a rare 1 of 52 engines worth $10,000. He said whoever he sold it to which was me got a killer deal. Have you guys ever heard of this rare engine and if it is true how do I find the serial for the engine.

I've never heard of the Z32 coming factory with anything other than a VG30DE(TT) and the only special editions I've heard of are the Stillen SMZ which was in '94 and the last 300 cars to be brought over to the US were commemorative editions. No idea about the Japanese market.
Do you have more info, maybe some pictures of the bay?

Unfortunately the previous owner is just bull s*** you. There is no such animal.. People often refer to the VG30DETT as a VG30TT to shorten the engine's name (simply dropping the "DE") that could possibly be the root of the confusion.

I'd call him up and tell him you would sell him the engine for $8k to give him a deal, then buy you a built motor ;)

I was also going to suggest that you find this guy, sell him the car for a markup so he can have his "rare" engine and you will have the money to do a "rare" build with it.

The ONLY possibility here I can think of would be European Cima VG30 parts swapped into a TT Z32, or maybe the entire motor although TT-ing it would be similar to a NA/TT swap I'd think.
The Cima VG30DE engine has a few small but useful variables such as the balance tube configuration and lower intake IIRC, and which would definitely make the engine interesting and potentially valuable to a Z32 TT guy even though there's no performance difference between the platforms.
What to look for would be the balance tube is back further to the firewall exposing the hidden #6 spark plug coil, although the different lower intake manifold cannot be seen unless the engine is disassembled...if you have any pics of the engine bay I'd be able to tell if it was the Cima balance tube or not.
