Seriously... I feel like over the last year, about a hundred different celebrities were the subject of elaborate internet-centric death hoaxes. Morgan Freeman and Bon Jovi come to mind immediately, and recently, the dude from pawn stars got one.

What the actual f***? Who decides throwing this crap around is a "great idea"? Are people today that f*** desperate for attention? I just don't understand it. What does someone gain from pretending someone they've likely never met in their life is dead? Do people really get off on seeing stupid s*** like that go "viral"?

I also worry that "going viral" for 2 days on the internet is turning into the peak of success for our society, but perhaps that's another rant for another day.

Harold Ramis had a few hoaxes tossed over the years apparently. Which made it that much worse when he really did die D:

It's bad when you have to Google something to find out if you're too young or old for an age test. It's a sign I am starting to get old, but still young. :)

I had to Google the Harlem Shake when young people started talking about it.

That was back when SNL was actually funny. My all-time favorite is Dan Aykroyd doing his Julia Child impression.

SZH, you've only got 4 years on me, so I know how you feel. :frown:

Hey! I resemble that remark! Alright young man, I've got 20 years on you, so I'm technically old enough to be yer Pa! Normally I'd threaten to turn you over my knee and spank you, but you might like that, then we'd both be in trouble.

BTW, what part of DC area? Back in the 60's I used to live in Brentwood.

Not in DC, just north of it by a few miles.

Brentwood is a dump now. You'd probably get your X-wing stolen if you decided to drop in now...

BTW, I really believed that Chumlee thing, I had no idea it was a hoax!

Chevy Chase?

Yeah, my Jedi robes are camouflage and I've got fuzzy dice in the cockpit. Guess I should steer clear.

I missed the story about Chumlee. Usualyl when someone famous takes the long dirt nap, I get a notice from Stiffs.com. They run the Lee Atwater Invitational Dead Pool. A fairly simple game where you pick some famous people you think are going to die, and whoever gets the most right wins.

I was wondering this exact same thing the other day. Who gets their jollies making up stories about people dying?
I kinda hope the Rock finds them.

Mostly people like the script kiddies and other denizens lurking over at 4chan.
