Ok. My grandmother has a Infinity I30 with a VG30DE and once in a while, only while idleing, this INCREDIBLY LOUD whistling sound comes from the area of the alternator, timing belt, A/C, and PS and it isn't the belts and doesn't sound like a rubber squeel either. It sounds like an air whistle or bearing squeel.

But what's really odd.......is that it comes and goes and it sounds like the engine is turning it on and off occasionally and it has nothing to do with the engine temp either. And the A/C was off. We took it to a mechanic and they said that they couldn't get it to do it.

If you know what that is your a genious.

Could be the alternator....said it was coming from that are anyways. Get local auto part store place to put it on a machine for you. They can test it.

PS fluid is good. She is taking it to another shop tommorrow, so maybe they'll figure it out and not make up some BS and sell her something she doesn't need.

...............Maybe I should go with and talk to the mechanics about my 300zx restoration that I did. lol. You can't **** a ****ter.

on my pathfinder with a VG30E - the whistling is the intake. If you hear it at idle, and it goes away for a bit when you blip the gas, thats the way it is on my car. Usually when you spray the intake with a little carb cleaner it goes away.
