Random stalling problem?!

I have this problem, When my car is just started and im idling across the parking lot or something, my car will stutter,kinda act like it wants to stall, and eventually it does. And when i go to start it back up it just cranks and cranks and cranks and if i wait like 5 mins it will crank right up fine. But im thinkin the fuel pump, but not 100% so i was hoping you guys would have some opion? Need any more info let me know.

i have a 90 and mine has similar problems. sometimes i go to start mine and it dies, then it will crank and crank and crank but it helps if i crank and hold the accelerator wide open. that made me think i had a fuel injector leaking. i have your other problem where randomly i'll pull up to a stop sign and it falls on its face when i start to take off. i have a brand new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, engine coolant sensor, oxygen sensor, cleaned the maf, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the k&n but still the same problems. i haven't checked anything else since i'm buying a front clip this weekend but i am curious what everyone thinks it is

mu friend had a problem like that with his 350. check you air filter and make sure it is of properly and there are no leaks, also check you maf and all the wiring make sure you have a good connection

I had the same problem too and I replaced the fuel filter and pump and that didn't work. I cleaned the throttle body and used some Lucas Fuel Injector and System cleaner and it started rough. After holding the gas at around 2000 rpms for a couple of minutes the car ran fine, no stalling at lights or anything like that. Fast forward 3 weeks later and now my car won't start again. Same symptoms as before but it doesn't start. I smell gas in the first spark plug so I am not sure if that might be the problem.

yeah check your wires and your coil packs it could be that. i had a galant that had the exact same problem and we got new plugs and the coil pack and it ran really strong after that.

is it after you have been driving for awhile? mine did that, it would warm up and after that it woul;d stall and not start till hours later, found out i needed the temp sensor that on the intake manifold? i cant remember but it's on top yeah well i cleaned the connector and now it's fine, it wasn't registering so the computer thought it was still cold so choke was still on/going i dunno how to explain it...lol G/L

definitely sounds like a sensor issue of some sort. Maybe a MAF?

i dont know, but when i turn the key to the accessories part the one right before you crank it over, i dont here the fuel pump prime. maybe it just cant hear it, but i was thinkin maybe a crank sensor problem, but would be part of the distributor, but you said that didnt fix your problem?

sorry, i gotta learn to use punctuations, i meant the computer thought the car was still cold, it thought it was still cold so it would have the choke still on, but my car has been running good after i cleaned the connector
