Random sputtering/loss of power while cruising.

My car has been sitting for about 2 months due to fuel issues. Finally narrowed it down to the ECU, had to get a new one and had it re-tuned as my setup has changed a little. Just got the new ECU back in and drove the car for the first time today and I'm real happy with the tune, car ran great, however there were 2 or 3 random hiccups during my 2 hour trip.

The first time I'd been on the road for about 20 minutes, was crusing on the highway going about 80 mph and the engine randomly starts sputtering and losing power. I'd let off the gas for a couple seconds and it'd come back to life, only to sputter and lose power again. This went on for maybe 30 seconds. After that the car ran normally for about an hour.

Second time was different. I'd just turned a corner and got on it a little bit, as I'm easing back off the gas I hear a loud studder/popping sound and it seemed like the whold drive train shook. The car did this one more time about 40 minutes later.

It seems to be random when this stuff happens. I can get up to 12 psi with no sputters/hiccups, and even after letting off it doesn't backfire and make noise like it used to.

Any ideas what's going on? The first insance seems like the car is running a little too rich for that short period of time, as the engine seems to bog out and lose power. Second instance, I have no idea what's going on.

So far I'm planning on re-checking timing and cleaning the maf.

Thats a good start. Also check for codes and see if your tps is good

So I just checked my TPS, closed throttle: 500 ohms, WOT 2k ohms. Looks like it's junk, according to the write-ups it should be 2k ohms closed and 10k ohms WOT.

So do you guys think a junk TPS would cause the symptoms I've been experiencing?
