Random shut offs; need help.

So this started a bit ago, I'd be driving where ever I was going and next thing I know my power steering was out and I'd look down and my car had shut off! I was just barely able to watch it while it happened today. I was going roughly 50 and couldn't hear the car well and looked down to see the rpms at around 200(I was not in gear but had clutch down) I caught it and hit the gas and it came back up and when I stopped, it idled like nothing happened. This has almost been very dangerous for me and I'd love to keep my Z, any ideas? Also the hose on the bottom of my Evap can is disconnected but it's been like that since I got it and really only seems to effect idle a tad and emissions.

I'd start with an ECU diagnostics first.
