Sorry guys, i have been away from the forums for a while, I keep reading about a heatshield recall. Is this something that exists with both models? ( 2.5 and 3.5) I havent received any sort of letter regarding this at all.

I'm currently experiencing a lot of random rattle/noises from my 3.5.

1) The passenger release latch that is above the middle console on the passenger seat is rattling over every bump in the road.

2) I'm hearing a buzzing noise from what seems to be the left speaker area. What's odd is that it almost sounds very similar to exposed live wires in movies, just not as loud. This started happening yesterday and would be during cruising speeds.

3) Had a clunking noise from the rear right of my A/C. Dealer "fixed" it but said that they did so many things to try and fix it, they are not sure what actually fixed it. This was such a BS answer, but the answer and subsided. Although it has returned with a slightly different tone now.

I am sad that my first car purchase has so many problems, all before my 3750 mile oil change.

Whoops forgot to ask my question! Has anyone experienced these issues with their A/C? Dealer told me if they tried to go in and fix the rattle from the passenger seat latch, they may make it worst! If they did in fact make it worst, wouldnt they just need to fix it again until its gone?

I have some very annoying rattles too. The main ones seem to be almost coming from/near the speaker covers on the dash. It happens everytime you go over a bump. The annoying thing is that even with the radio up, I can still hear it. Its hard to drive and hold your ear up to the dash, so if anyone figures any of these rattles out, please post up. Other ones seem to be near the sunroof and rear deck lid. Who knows...??? A little disappointed myself.

the passenger seat belt clip tends to rattle because it's sitting against hard plastic when you have no belted passenger. gets a little annoying sometimes

my 3.5 had a loose heatsheild.. so its not just for the 2.5... aparently like 6 of the screws were real loose causing a rattle

Nissan Engineer taking a look at my car...? See below!

I took my A/C to the dealership yesterday morning for them to take a look at all those problems i listed above. I got a call back midday with them telling me that they want me to bring it back in next week, because they have a Nissan Engineer (?) that will be in the area that wants to take a look at the car.

I asked the service manager when i came to pick up the car what this implies and he said Nissan likes to have engineers come out and look at it because its a new "product" and also because of a "fixed" issue becoming an issue again( the Right rear clunk and rattle from the passenger seat).

I am not sure how i should really take this. I flat out just dont trust the dealership, and am afraid the "engineer" will come back with a "it's normal and tough love".

This is my first car so I don't have much experience with how car companies/dealerships deal with this kind of stuff. I just naturally assume that they just want to sell you the car, after that they pretty much dont really care that much about you.

It really depends. If you can try another dealership even if it is alittle out of the way. I never buy from my local dealership because I don't like the salesmen, but the service manager has always been good to me. I would say 75% of dealer service sucks, but stick to them. Contact NissanUSA.com and file a compaint if it doesn't get fixed. Don't settle for "Thats the way it is". Good luck and be sure to post results.

UPDATE:

Got my A/C back from the dealership and here's what they said. ( Mossy Escondido, CA )

They were able (seemingly) to get rid of the rattle from the passenger side latch. (Yay!).

UNFORTUNATELY, as for the Clunking noise that comes what sounds/seems like my Right rear Strut, they said that it just needed some insulation for hte noise and that it is normal to hear that. In the service write-up, it states: "Provided better tower mount insulation, noise heard is action of rear shock. Test drove same model of vehicle, noise can also be heard"

Funny though, it sounds worst now that i've gotten it back.

I did a quick test with the Nissan Sentra that i had to get rented to me, and i heard no noise from any strut, while going over speed bumps at various speeds! Wtf?!

I know that may be comparing apples to oranges, but seriously? My new AC is louder and clunkier than a rental Sentra?

I am at a loss at what to do. I want to go in tomorrow and tell them that it still isnt fixed, but somehow i am pretty sure that will get me nowhere. Thinking of taking it to another dealership.

Are any of you hearing a clear "action of rear shock" noise in your A/C's?

dealers always tell you that they test drove a different car and the noise is 'normal' Honestly, anyone who works at a dealership had a one way ticket to hell in the afterlife. Soooo much lying.
