My friend swapped in s13 cams into his s14its a 95 s14 automatic with a ka24deat random times his idle will start to fluctuate from 600-800 and sometimes 500-700I dont think its his timing cause its not a constant idle problemme and him dont know much about cam swaps, and his uncle did it(he owns a shop) so we dont know what could be causing it.Do you need an ecu tune when swapping cams?Or could it be something to do with improper installation?

depending on the make and grind of the cam..there is slight to moderate overlap for the valve opening and closing's..with after market cams..its not un-common for some idle issues to exist depending on the grind..you should read the manufacturers information on overlap/duration/ and maximum valve lift and compare it to your oem info...to see if this is the way you would like your car to perform...good luck.

this depends..if there stock cams for a KA24DE?..then yes..this is an issue but maybe with a slight vacume leak or the iacv...stock cams would not effect a motor like this..as they are desighned to be verry mild compared to aftermarket cams...you need to do more reaserch into this issue with your car man..start by redoing the timing ..just to rule it out..then start testing injectors..sensors..iacv..ect.

Why were the cams swapped in the first place? Was there a problem?
