Random Car Alarm Activation

I have a 2009 M35X with about 65,000 miles.

My car alarm will just activate itself for no reason recently. It has happened in 2 different locations and will occur if the doors are locked or unlocked.

I had this problem last July then it disappeared. The dealer recoded my keys but I don't think that was the issue. Can a sensor in the doors, hood or trunk be faulty?

I think this has happened to some people who needed the battery replaced in their key fob. It is expensive to do at the dealership, and you *should* be able to do it yourself. Just pop it open and replace battery. I did it to mine and my dad did his own as well. Some people say you need to have it done by the dealer so that the key can be programmed once the new battery is in, this may have some truth to it but nether I nor my dad has to have anything done. Best to have your spare fob just in case though
