Lately, my 2010xS pre/nav has been experiencing random audio drops. This happens when listening to FM, XM, CD and ipod sources. The audio drops out (completely mute) for about 1.5 - 2 secs then comes back more on the right speakers then slowly balances to the lefts. Nothing crazy happens on the nav screen (as in flicker, fade, freezing, etc) when it occurs and it happens randomly so I'm not sure what could be causing it. Any ideas?

Thanks.

It happens even when I'm stopped. The strange thing is that when it starts it'll drop the audio twice within a 1 minute period then for the next 15-20 mins it's ok then it starts again. Switching the radio on/off doesn't change the behaviour.

Update: Turned off all weather watch and warning msgs last Friday and so far no drops (knock on wood). I'm suspecting I may have been receiving blank audible warnings alerts which triggers the audio to cut out but nothing is being said.

Seems like turning off the XM warnings didn't fully cure my issue. The drops are coming back more frequent. Next step: dealer.

hmm, do you have bluetooth? is it automatically pairing with your phone? if so, it could be an incompatibility with the phone and your BT system. Blackberrys receive data all the time and the BT system may recognize that as something that would normally override your stereo.

its a stretch, but i am sure it could happen.

My phone is listed as fully compatible on the infiniti website but I can try turning off BT to see if that makes a difference. I've been experimenting for the past several days and the drops also occurs when using the nav so it's not just the limited to the ipod, fm, xm and cd sources.

I turned off BT this morning but it made no difference. I have an appointment with the dealer wednesday morning to look into it and also a rattle that's coming from the dash near the passenger A pillar. Hopefully, they won't tell me both are "normal" and nothing is wrong.

Well it's been 45 days since they ordered a new radio and I haven't heard much from the dealer. Since this is my first Infiniti do parts take a long time to get in? Is 45 days acceptable so far or should I start following up with the service manager?

Thanks.

it's your NAVigation, take off any destinations or whatever. I was bothered with this for a few days too. i thought my speaker was going bad.

Tried that already and the tech tried other things but same problem. Followed up on the dealership. Seems like the radios are back-ordered from Clarion. I may have to deal with corporate and maybe they'll pull one off the assembly line.
