Hey fellas...

I have had a bout of bad luck recently, losing my cars and my apartment to Sandy (my stuff is dry but in storage now and I am living at mother in laws) then losing my job due to coming in late 4 times (for 5 min each).

Today I went to McDonalds and ordered a coffee, at the 1st window (cashier) the guy ahead of me took a few minutes longer than expected...
When I got to the cashier, she told me the guy infront of me paid for my coffee, and that he left me an envelope, which she handed to me.

First I thought it was one of you guys (i see nico guys around somewhat regularly, but did not expect one of you to be in a windstar).

I opened the envelope...

I never put much merit into the whole "karma" thing, but recently (since the hurricane) there have been a number of events that have happened that seem to be more than a coincidence.

Penny for your thoughts?
Anyone ever have a random act of kindness like this happen to them?

Pretty sweet!

However he did assume that you are of the Christian faith

Little presumptuous... Acts of kindness don't always have to directly linked to god but it seems like they usually are

I don't know... It didn't say jesus on it so I take it as a non denominational mention of a higher being. Could be Allah, Hashem, JC or Buddha no?

Wow. Sorry you have had such a rough time.

Just accept the "random act" and remember when you get on your feet to do the same to someone else.

I also could have went without the god thing, but its the thought that counts most. Its always a great feeling when good things happen to pull you out of any slumps you have.

In New York, I probably would have declined the gift for fear of Anthrax and/or crazy and just paid for the coffee myself. Pass it on to the next guy haha.

Actually, I like to do this sort of thing randomly. I have a Hardee's (Carl Juniors to other parts of the country) that is close to my house that I get breakfast at a lot during the summer. Every once in a while, I'll hand them $20 extra over my breakfast and tell them to pay for the next 2 or 3 cars and not tell them who it is. It happened to me once and It made my day. Always makes me feel good when I do it too.

Honestly - I think it's pretty cool. With everything it sounds like you've been through, to happen to have the guy in front of you choose to do that - when any one else could have been behind him had you left 15 seconds sooner or later - is pretty neat. As far as the "God" thing, I also things its a nice way to witness. There's no in your face, fire and brimstone talk. There's no one actively doing anything. There's no judgement - just him believing what he wants while not forcing those beliefs on you or encroaching upon yours. Take the random act as what it is, and if it speaks to you let it. If no, no big deal. Either way, when you can, be sure to do it for someone else so they can receive the same gift you were able to :)

Just accept the gift for what it is, a random act of kindness, and remember to pay it forward when you get back on your feet.

**I think it was really s*** of your employer to fire you, especially in the wake of the circumstances EVERYONE was dealing with**
