my 95 240sx ran out of gas the other day and now it wont start up. It cranks but wont start. Things I tried:

1. Checked fuel pump, its working, filter and sock is not clugged, fuel is flowing.
2. Checked for spark, all 4 plugs are sparking.
3. Timing is good.

Can it be a sensor issue? Been working on this for 3 days now and still a no good, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

try using starting fluid. That will tell you what kind of problem it is. If your car runs off of starting fluid then you have a fuel problem. if not then it is spark. Just spray a few squirts down your intake tubing and see what happens when you crank it.

try unhooking your battery for about ten minutes and then try it again. sometimes that resets your ECU incase it is a sensor. also look around engine bay to make sure something isn't unplugged like your MAF

I had this same problem years ago. How i fixed it was i removed my fuel rail and injectors. I then reinstalled everything...started right up. I think it could be the fuel pressure regulator being old and since you ran it dry the diaphram inside didnt seat right...I dont know, but you can try what i did, nothin to lose and 2 bolts to do it.

Sorry it took me awhile to answer busy with work. I have tried the starter fluid and the battery, still a no go. Will try taking out the fuel rail and injectors, will let you know what happens after that. Thanks for the replies.
