I ran my s14 on the 1/4 in Fontana on Sat. (1121 ft. elevation, really hot)-stock internals-ssac top mount turbo mani.-t3/t4 .50 a/r compressor-.63 a/r exhaust-fmic-blow through z32 mafs-555cc injectors-jwt tune-38mm wg set at 10psi-3 in catless exhaust-greddy type rs bov-s13 vlsd 4.1:1-z32 16x8.5 with potenza re730 245/45 in back w/ neg. camber-lowering springs

My two best times were:#1R/T .04560' 2.338330 6.1991/8 9.224MPH 81.591000 11.8111/4 13.940MPH 106.6

#2 (BEST)R/T .21360' 2.223330 6.0481/8 9.120MPH 80.771000 11.7421/4 13.897MPH 105.40

I was launching at around 3000rpms, any higher and I would fry both tires at redline.

i was getting the hang of it, leave on a late yellow I beat an s2000 which was running 14.2's @ 98 mph. They weigh about the same as an s14 (2800lbs) but I am thinking that my output is higher than my initial guess of 240rwhp, maybe 260rwhp? what do you guys think?

I want to up the boost but she is my daily driver and I wanted to see what my daily driven setup can do. I am thinkin of checking my bore and dropping in some forged 8.8:1 forged pistons, but I have an itch that my stock internals can handle 15 psi easily

Only one way to see if it can handle the boost.

Just keep an eye on everything so you don't blow it up, lol.

yeah it was hard to get traction in first gear, my car just chattered like a *****

funny story: I didn't have a helmet or jacket which is a NHRA requirement to run 13.99 or quicker so I told the techs that my car ran 14's, but they were skeptical. So they watched my first run and of course, I'm not gonna run a 13.99 or quicker so I ran a 14.4 instead..THEN i started running 13's

alright I did the altitude correction for 1200 ft. and I got:e/t 13.897x.9887=13.74 sec.mph 105.40x1.0115=106.6 mph

my 60' is 2.223 which I am finding out isn't very impressive. Could this be because of my semi-late-spooling turbo (compared to a t-25)? If I launched any higher than 3000 rpm's, I would fry both tires as if I were playing gran turismo 4 with "simulation tires" lol

lol! That's why i'm scared to go to the track.. I guess I should get a helmet.. I'm running 10psi from a gt35, but I know i'll want to turn the boost up to 15psi + since I have a built motor.. I don't want harnesses or a rollcage.. gosh.

IDK I'm getting 234 hp form the d/t calc....

you could def be in the 12's via lower 60foot!less camber would help the chatter, go back with slicks and rock the 12 sec slip as for 15psi, dont mess around a walbro isnt that costly these days

nissanfanatic can chime in on stock pistons, what like 5xx whp

nice times tho

Have you thought about going to a taller final drive? Turbos seem to like that. Should help your launching too.

You said you were launching at 3k? Dunno if you know this or not but what the heck I'll bring it up anyway, you should be able to launch higher than that. If you poke around you should be able to find better, and more detailed, instructions (Bimmer FI forums tend to have them). Start with a rather high rpm and hold it. When you're ready to launch floor the engine (duh) and modulate the power with the clutch rather than the gas. But don't take just my word for it as I'm by no means an expert at drag racing.

yeah I've heard that slipping the hell out of the clutch is the best way to launch but I don't wanna go through a clutch.

About the taller final drive, that may be a good idea..like a 3.91 instead of the 4.08 I have now. But I'm at about redline in 4th at the end of the run which is perfect.

I always have this problem in first, I'll launch it pretty hard at 3,000, rear end tucks and the tires chatter then about 4,000 rpms the boost kicks in and the chattering turns into a burnout. I can usually feel the back end a tad "squirly" lol

The bimmer guys running 500+ hp turbos run crazy 2.5-2.9ish final drives. Mostly 2.9 since those can be had out of stock diffs but some have gone lower. The rest of the bimmer turbos are running the 3.2:1 diff I think.

Anyway, aside from the obvious benefit of being able to put more power down by making it harder to turn they claim something about it makes more power or more useable power or something. I'm not sure how it works but they say it comes from the exhaust pulses and more load on the engine maybe. I've never fully understood how it was supposed to work though.

Maybe someone with more experience and knowledge can chime in on the topic.

Yea your 60' is pretty horrible, I was running 2.2 60' in my DSM which was FWD. Drop that time to around a 1.8 and you'll see some really nice times.

that's what I've been finding out, other people with way less power are doing the same 60' times as me

I think I'll have to launch at a higher rpm like 4500 or 5000 and slip the clutch more just to get a kick *** time slip and call it a day.

I found out that its a lot easier to cut a good 60' with no power. I was able to launch about 3200 and have traction with out boggin down the motor. Now with the new turbo setup i havent found the sweet spot yet. Launch a little high and burn the tires off or lauch to low and bog down. I recently welded the diff so once i get some decent street tires i am looking for sub 2.0 60'.

Launches can be made higher without bogging. It's all about the clutch work.

Try this old trick... Drop your tire pressure. I was running about 20-22psi when I clicked off my time in my NA KA.

Hey did you catch the thread I posted about drag racing? I posted it just for you.

No one really seemed interested but now we can say "SEARCH NOOB!!11!!!1!!" This probably wasn't the best place to post it but I knew we'd been talking about it a bit.
