Alright, I'm almost done with my clutch swap!!! Only thing is, I had to remove the pilot bushing (using a slide hammer) and now I can get the new one to slide right into the crank case. Anyone have remedies???? And also, I was wondering if anyone took theirs out in a different manner. My pilot bushing was on there pretty good and that's why I had to use a slide hammer.

Bust out the lithium grease and see if you can coax it in with that crap all over it... (read "use the grease and gently tap with a hammer")

the pilot bushing came in a note saying that no grease should be applied to it. I think if I grease it, it will crack when the transmission turns...dunno if that's true but I dont want to risk it......

Yeah dont put lithium grease in there yet but use a little engine oil. Just a little and a socket thats the same diameter that the pilot bushing is and tap it in. Be sure not to damage the bushing or you wont get the tail shaft in. Then grease the pilot bushing with the lithium grease before you put the transmission on.

Well, I went to this clutch shop that did my flywheel, and he was cool. He lent me this race drive that did the job. I'm practically done now. Thanks people~!

PS - By the way, how did most of you take the pilot bushing out??? I had to use a slide hammer.....

Someone told me a trick. They said you could put grease in the whole and cram the clutch tool in there and hydraulic pressure would pop the bushing out. I've never tried it though...

Well, I just took out my pilot busing with a chisel and screwdriver (brass cuts really easily) - getting it in involved a little engine oil and a tap from a ballpeen hammer, per the ACT installation instructions. I have a mechanic buddy helping me with the clutch job (waiting on the flywheel right now), he has a special tool to pop out the bushing, like $15. Didn't have it with him last night, though, so the chisel and screwdriver works fine.

Is that $15 tool a clamp/bolt type??? I've seen it on the web, looked real clean. I wasn't sure if I should order it cause the website looked old and the # posted wasnt answering.....
