Hey you suck! :-p I'm lucky to find 92 LET ALONE 93 octane.. I'm 1/2 convinced im gonna have to start buying airplane fuel from the local airport and mix my own when i get CA'd and want to time my car.

Sounds like a good run to me, man! And if the track was a bit moist, then on a dry track you should do much better.

We are building a high compression ka24e/de head motor and with 11.7:1 compression it is going to be a constant 100+ octane fuel moster... so i need to find a car that i can "track" out :)

WOW, awesome time, well done, what kind of work have you done to the engine, with this kind of time you should be putting at least 400whp.

Good job

well he did mention that it was 97 RON, most octane rating in usa is (Mon+Ron)/2= octane. second, i wouldnt run airplane fuel, its got lots of additives for better burning at high altitudes, not good for cars. check out this page for octane boostinghttp://noclownz.dnsalias.net/racegas.htm

IIRC the octane ratings are calculated differently in the US, In the UK ans & AUS they take they calculate it RON + MON / 2 = Pump octane.

Could be wrong about the US octane figures, but if they are calculated the same then that bites!

Go buy some toluene and methanol and stick that in the tank! :ylsuper

Thats not a bad idea air plane fuels not that much more then 93 octane and its a lot better. As long as you dont still have your cat I'd go for it. Only problem is the gas will seperate if it sets for a couple days without being driven. I just noticed your in lawrence KS. Im in pittsburg KS not very far away. So if you wanna meet up sometime that'd be cool I go to lawrence to party all the time. I'd like to see a Ca setup

Guys, DON'T USE AIRPLANE FUEL!!!! It contains tetra-ethyl lead. It will toast your O2 sensors in a few hours of running.

for the record, shell optimax is 98.6 RON. and fuel wise, i prefer the ol' "go to nearst track and spend a fortune to fill up" plan when i need something thatll pack a punch. gotta love that sunoco 104 octane unleaded fuel. usually only have 100 unleaded though.

LOL, thanks. I actually did go to the site in his sig, but I must have overlooked it. BTW, I am not new here. My name on here is boostedS13 but when the site switched from vB to this, something happened and my password doesn't work. Not only that, but the email I registered with a LONG *** time ago, is no longer around so I can't even have it sent to me. So unless an admin wants to reset my password and change my email addy for me, I am stuck!

Back on topic (even though the topic is old...)... a lot of my friends use the 100LL from the airport because it is cheaper than 93. It doesn't really affect heated O2 sensors.

I'll bet it does effect them, they just haven't noticed yet. I could be wrong though, as I'm not well educated on airplane fuel, but what I was told was that it's OK to use as long as the car doesn't have an O2 sensor. If it does, you'll drastically shorten the life of the sensor.
