This 18 year old has eaten nothing but Ramen noodles since her 5th birthday. I don't know who I want to smack harder: her or her mother for enabling this behavior. :squint: :slap:

according to her doctors, she is malnourished and has the health of an 80 year old.

I am SOOO glad I don't eat these anymore.

I stopped eating all bread/flour, rice, and anything containing processed sugar 2 months ago. Never felt better in my entire LIFE. Also dropped 18 lbs in that period.
I guess this is the complete opposite of that.

Man, those "flavor packets" have to be the leading cause of cancer. Read the ingredients of the package and it looks like a science experiment. Everytime you use it you enjoy a strong dose of salt, monosodium glutamate, sugar, hydrolyzed this and that, and whatever the heck disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate are.

Japan already has an avatar for ramen abuse. His name is Naruto. Maybe you heard of the cartoon? lol

Also, the flavor packets aren't the only bad thing in ramen. The noodles themselves have no nutritional value and are considered more of a snack food than meal. Imagine eating Doritos everyday for that many years...

When I was dirt poor on my own about 13-14 years ago, I lived for months on ramen and white rice. I'd use a portion of the packet and mix it all in.

I not only became quite thin despite eating a lot of it, I also lost most of my muscle. My body was basically eating itself to stay alive because there was little nutritional value and no protein. If not for the carbs and an occasional 18-cent soda or a beer, my body had no way of creating energy.

Ahem.

Anyway, my little cousin is a picky eater, only likes to eat chicken nuggets and mac 'n cheese. That's it. Since the kid will eat nothing else (and I mean NOTHING, he will starve if nothing else is on the table), that's what she fed him for a while. Then, she noticed the little bugger was getting fat and looking unhealthy, so she started changing it up with healthy stuff. He didn't eat, and would constantly complain about it at school. A teacher got involved, along with some kind of agent, and now the little dork eats as many chicken nuggets and bowls of mac 'n cheese that he wants. They check up on her now twice a week to make sure she isn't forcing any other good habits on him anymore.

My son was the same way. Fortunately he likes Carnation instant breakfast. They have chocolate and vanilla. Not a ton of vitamins but it's better than nothing. Pass it along.

I told my aunt about it, apparently she was hip already. Still, I smh because they think she was trying to starve him even though she was feeding him? When that little ***hole gets older, I'm gonna smack him good once.

Twice. I want one too.

This is 100% the parents' fault. Put nutritious, healthy food on the table. If the little cretin won't eat it, too bad. He can go to bed and have sleep for dinner.

NO living creature will willingly starve to death in the presence of food. It's absurd. The parents should be forced to cover the cost of that kid's eventual medical procedures, because they're gonna come fast.

My kids ate what was prepared. Don't like it? Cool. Get outta my kitchen. Go get a job and buy all the Bacon Double McFatties you want.

Stace could cook brother. Your kids had two parents...real parents. This chicks Mom is probably allergic to real cooking. Parenting is easy if you let the kid have whatever they want. The challenge comes from actually BEING a parent. Like I've said before, people suck.

This pour kid is a prime example of why our country is cruising into the gutter. The family dynamic is gone. Kids grow up with no Dads, no empathy and the TV as a fcukin roll model.

Not to worry though dude, Healthcare is free now!

Sounds like most of the college kids I know. "Cooking" means boiling some water in the microwave and then pouring it onto some noodles.
AZhitman wrote:My kids ate what was prepared. Don't like it? Cool. Get outta my kitchen. Go get a job and buy all the Bacon Double McFatties you want.

This was how it was when I was growing up. I ate what was prepared. And both of my parents are excellent cooks with diverse tastes, so I got to experience a LOT of different foods. I'm EXTREMELY glad I did, because there's not much of it I didn't enjoy. Mexican food, Greek food, Thai food, Indian food, German food...really the only cultural/geographical food subset I DON'T really care for is American food. I'll trade a burger and fries for an enchilada or a bratwurst or some pho any day.

I have a distinct memory of a time that I was invited to have dinner with a friend's family when I was maybe 10. He warned me beforehand that his mom made weird food. I got to the table and his mother herself offered the same warning. Then she revealed a plate of fantastic-smelling quiche and everyone was amazed when I said it was one of my favorite foods. Frickin' picky-a** kids.

I will admit, though, that cauliflower and coconut both make me want to hurl. I avoid them if possible.

Also, because it's slightly relevant:

I really adore all the assumptions being made here, but sorry, you're all wrong about a great many things there.

Anyway, the kid will not eat anything healthy if it's put on the table. She is a good mother who runs a pre-school and tried for a very long time. I witnessed about 2 weeks of it, and he would eat only a little and then complain, and putter off to his game/homework/whatever he was doing before. She even kept in contact with his friends' mothers to make sure he wasn't getting crap there.

Yep. I grew up on a lake and caught bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Mom had a garden. I was fortunate to have a "good start", but even parents of inner-city kids have access to fruits and veggies. NOTHING say you have to BUY chicken nuggets, microwave pizzas and Pop-Tarts for the little cretins.

Leave the ingredients in the fridge and quit buying garbage. Teach them how to make something healthy. Parenting is about shepherding kids into proper choices, because they'll stick to that path when they grow up.

Then he doesn't need to be in the gene pool, eventually sucking up all the healthcare dollars.

Let Darwin get his groove on.

I've never seen a kid successfully pull off a hunger strike. Ever.

Good mom or not, she's killing her kid... and she's not alone.

My post was about the Ramen teen brosef. Not ur aunt, didn't mean to come across that way if I did.

I have kids and understand that sometimes they're little bastards that won't eat.

As far as Democrats go, I just like to kick the bee's nest dude :)

It's not like she has a choice. Child welfare has deemed that she must feed him what he will eat, the govt. has stepped in and it's mandated. THAT was the point of my whole post.
AZhitman wrote:When did you procreate? :poke:
The point sailed past your head. The assumptions made were:

1.) My aunt is allergic to real cooking
2.) That she is a single parent
3.) The kid eats Bacon Double McFatties (or assuming the family has enough to buy them for him regularly)
4.) Healthcare is free now? lol

...and I'm saying that no government agency has that authority. Period. She needs an attorney if someone has DICTATED that she buy the little rodent chicken nuggets and french fries to eat.

I'd like to see the court order. Hell, I'd make that judge (or social services entity) famous overnight.

Because 'Murica.

I didn't make any of those assumptions. I'm sure she's a wonderful, lovely lady, and I have no doubt she loves her offspring like only a mother can.

Maybe Dad needs to get involved. Someone tells my wife what to do, they're in for a s**tstorm of verbal abuse and litigation. Step up, Dad - it's your job.

She needs to touch base with a supervisor at whatever wack-job entity that thinks they can tell people that failure to feed your kid reconstituted s*** somehow equates to "child abuse."

Keep letting the government stooges push you around, and you're gonna keep getting shat upon. I hope she gets a clue before the kid develops the 'beetus or whatever other malady (cancer, most likely) he's headed for. :(

The majority of those were what I said and they were aimed at the Ramen teen that this thread is about. With that said, I meant every word. If you feed your kid crap for years, its your fault that they suck. Period.

As far as your aunt goes, I'd also like to see this order that says she must feed the child unhealthy food because it's all they'll eat. Perhaps there is a medical condition involved. If the child only eats junk food though, I don't buy that he/she hasn't been spoiled. Accountability starts at home. I don't know your aunt, so she doesn't get a free pass because she's a relative of yours. Being a parent is hard friggin work. Own it.

As far as I know, it's the directive coming from whatever agent she has to keep up to with home visits and all that.

I have never dealt with anyone from child protective services or whatever agency is doing this, but I know from friends that they can be pretty invasive into your home life when someone gives them a reason to be. In this case, it was some over zealous teacher getting her panties in a bunch with only half the situation known. They obviously don't consider eating all that crap to be a huge problem compared to him not eating. That, and I'm sure the little dork fibbed a bunch about how cruel she was being or something like that. Ahem.
Hey - I'm with you guys on at least one thing, the little dork's resolve could've been broken if the strike has lasted another week or so...
