Agreed, but it also depends on the application. If you're going to OC the computer, look into OCZ. Latency AKA timing is an important factor also.szhosain wrote:
Agreed.
But, Kingston is excellent too.

I'm gon get me a laptop if I come across money, but thas not the point.Which company is better to you guys for a 1GB ram chip? I got out of the serious computer stuff a long time ago and I feel so lost now...
This is true if you have a run of the mill store bought PC. But if you build your own computer and do ANY overclocking certain brands are better then others and more stable. Also, some brands allow for a higher FSB overclock while remaining stable.honda_killer240 wrote:patriot/corsair/kingston/crucial is the order when i shop for ram. but really in the end ram is ram. there is no one better then the other. never had problems with any ram from anyone.(the ones i have used) plus %99.9 of them come with a lifetime replacement warranty so nothing really to worry about. just get the cheapest one with the performance u are looking for.
I agree with you 100%.PoorManQ45 wrote:

All these stupid expensive models that each of the brands has are not just gimmicks. They're usually guaranteed to meet a certain speed without failing.
i do build my own systems. well up till the one now. and in my own systems i used kingston till that last one i built. i used patriot. cheaper then kingston and it performed better to me. and i dont over clock. i dont see the need to. my roommate just built a new rig and it h as 8 gig of patriot DDR2 and it runs great.PoorManQ45 wrote:

The key phrase is, "when overclocking". Almost any XYZ brand will work fine for a stock clocked system, it's when you go to overclock that the expensive brands shine.honda_killer240 wrote:
