my 1992 nissan 240 SX has been a great car. Recently on a rainy day while going down the interstate at 65 mph- car seem to skip- pressed on gas and got no pickup. Lasted for about 3 or 4 seconds then it was o.k. After that it ran fine with no problems until the next shower. Seemed to do the same thing and this time, engine cut off. Took it to my mechanic and he replaced ignition cap, spark plugs and wires. Thought that would fix it. It seemed to be better but did it again. Also some idling problems in rain. Even replaced the fuel pump, thought that may have something to do with it. I'm stumped now. Any help?

welcome to nico!

lets determine if we are looking at a fuel or spark issue here.

during the cutoff, does it lose spark, fuel, or both? if fuel, is it pressure or pulse?

I think it is spark- however, let me add something new- if you are riding down the highway and put the car in neutral- it cuts off sometimes.

I had a problem just like yours and it turned out to be MAF sensor related. It started out small but got worse very fast and only seemed to show up in rain or damp weather. Now MAF sensors are expensive so you should test it before you run out and get one, the procedure has been posted before you'll just have to do a search. Good luck
