yeah i think its rain or shine. i think it would look very bad if they cancelled it bc of rain.

IMO i think D1 isnt a good investment bc all you do is stand outside and watch them from afar for a few hrs, unless it ur 1st time then it might be exciting. If i were you id save my money for hot import nights next month, its at night and its like a big party!!. Last octobers was pretty awesome, except for that one dude in line infront of me who kept asking if cherie roberts was gonna appear (he followed her from NY, hawaii and 6 other states) . and i think id be more your moneys worth bc therye teh same price anyway. btw whos going to next months HIN in L.A.??? i sure would like to have a meet :)

HIN instead of D1? Are you kidding? And you don't just stand and watch from afar. I'm pretty sure there are open pits and you can walk around and talk the drivers. Trackside tickets at the last event rocked and that was just exhibition. There is also a car show as well (I think). One thing I'll give you though, HIN does have more T&A :naughty

why are car shows rice??? i would just have more fun at a saturday night event with friends, music and cars and models than a drift event in the day.

In my experience, the cars at car shows are owned by people who have never raced them and have no proof that any bolt on or engine swap really works well. Their cars seem to be a collection of parts that look pretty and not a well thought out combination that is proven to work. I just don't have much respect for somebody who builds a car just for car shows. Cars, and especially performance cars, are meant to be driven. Part of the display for a car with performance mods should be a dyno sheet and a time slip, maybe even a video of the car in action.

I like talking with girls and listening to music just as much as anybody, but at a car show I want to see cars. HIN is just a night club that happens to have cars involved.

you just proved my point,

cmon guys grow up, dont be close minded. im just not into cars as i was before. anytime i talk with someone i just pretend i dont know anything about cars, dont get me wrong, i do drift and race but i dont feel anyone needs to know i do those things. HIN is not a rice reunion, its full of cars that are modified at an attempt to please the audience at hand. but if they cant succeed at that theres always the alternative, to party. they dont put all their eggs in 1 basket so the audience would just have to put up with 1 theme.

Do people even look at cars at a hot imports night show? I thought people just go there to see the models and watch the wet t-shirt contest?

D1 is kind of like a once a year thing in the US while car shows are almost every month.

Well, car shows are kind of played out here in the bay area. We get at least 2-3 hot import nights shows per year and probably 6 other import car shows. The D1 event next week is going to be an actual competition so it should be much better than last year. I know at least 15 people from the bay area 240 community that are driving to LA to see the D1 event for the 2nd time.

i think i would prefer D1 (but of course i have to live in illinois) just because its more about driver skill, then show, and i think those Japanese drifting cars are better than the show cars and car shows, and you actually get to see them in action. my $.02
