2012 Murano with rain sensing auto wipers. For first year and a half wipers only swept when windshield was wet or the switch was put in manual, mist or wash. Now they sweep every time you start the engine and also will sweep when driving on a totally clear day with no moisture present. Took to Nissan dealer (under warranty) and they tell me this is normal and the single stroke is an auto test. But, if the windshield is dirty and has road film or costruction dust on it and there is no water to move the dirt, I feel there is a big risk of scoring the windshield when sweeping dry. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. I don't believe the dealer because this has only just recently happened? I need some ammo to go back to the dealer to correct this deficiency. thanx!

try a different dealer. Also call a few dealers and ask their service dept.
