Rain drops sticking on the EX

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

from ever since i bought my EX i noticed that even ever it rains the water droplets stick to the paint. then after when it drys overnight it leaves these dust marks were the droplets were. it looks cool i guess because it looks like a leopard skin effect lol. but its still really dirty and a pain to wash every time it rains. i think it has sumthing to do with the special paint the EX has because this never happens to my old car, rain water just slides right off.

perhaps i should use dash washing soap to clean my car that might work?

well here this is what i tried so far: first regular soap and water didnt work so i got the mr clean autodry. well that was a waste of money. then i used that once a year polish/wax/protector that made it look shiny and nice but the rain drops still stuck on the same. then i bought a soap + wax all in one type of soap and even washed by hand but still didnt solve my problem. then i tried the local carwash where i went thru the foam soap and wax and everything and still same problem.

say what type of wax do you use maybe i cud try it.maybe you can tell me what procedure do you go through to wash your EX

I clean my car alot. It will probably be to long of a process for you lol. First of all ditch all that all in one s***. and if the once a year thing is that nu finish stuff that is good, but like the thing says you really only need it like once every six months or so. Its a polish of sorts.

things you will need:1. car soap im using cheap stuff right now i really havent ever noticed too much a difference in soap.2. a bucket or two for your water3. two brushes at least i have one a bit smaller then a tooth brush and one like a bath tub floor scrubber. If you have nice wheels get like stiff hair type brush but i use the plastic bristle type cause my wheels are just oem crap. Although i actually do have a hair brush for getting bugs off my mirrors and bumper while washing.4. sponge5. shammy, Real skin ones are nicer but the fake ones work almost as good.6. wax7.wheel cleaner8. 2 or so rougher rags for wax/polish remover9. 2 or so smooth or microfiber cloths for application of wax/polish

and then there are other things you need to do on occasion but dont need every wash.

8.paint cleaner (if using maguier products like me then the cleaner stuff is called like deep clean polish and says step one on the bottle) you only need this like once every so months like that nu finish stuff.9. polish (maguiers step two for me)only need this like every two to three weeks.

ok so my process.1. wash car by hand (machine car washes are almost always brutal even the nice ones avoid at all cost unless you need to in the winter). I am assuming you know how to wash your car well. If not i will expand if you want lol.2.wash your wheels with some wheel cleaner taking care to do one wheel at a time and making sure you dont apply the cleaner while the wheel is dry or it will get acid streaks in the finish. So spray it on and get your brushes into the spaces on the spokes and scrub and srub then spray it off. 3. use shammy to dry the whole car. 4. if your polishing then get your polish on your rag. I use about a 3x2 inch area each time i apply over an area. So you put it on the rag and do a section of your car. You dont want to do too big an area cause you dont want the product to sit too long. I typically do like one or two fendors or slash door at a time. Other sections are like the roof, hood, trunk... get my drift? Oh and to apply just rub it on in small circles trying to avoid glass or trim as you will have to rub it pretty hard it get it off those things. Then when you get done with your section whipe it off with another rougher towel or rag by doing the circle motion like applying. You should be able to notice where it is no really smooth and there is no white cloudy stuff (the polish).4. wax repeat the process described for polishing.5. clean your windows if you bought auto glass cleaner. or apply rainex6. clean your interior which is a whole other process lol.

Now i clean my car once a week or at least i try to. The wax and having it polished occasionally will make the rain and any other water shed off the paint. If it rains alot then you will get some little white dots from dry water, but you can just whipe it off with a cloth if the car has recently been waxed and the white specks will disapear and car should still be pretty smooth. If you need any more help let me know. im a cleaning nut lol.

wow that is alot lol. thx alot for your detailed steps.i've been told that all i need is dish soap so that it leaves a squeaky clean surface so that the rain drops would slide off. do you think that'll work too?

ugh... idk i stick to wax. It makes water bead then fly off like rainex does to windows.... PLus it seals your paint and will keep it looking new for a long time. My car's paint is from 97 and i get comments all the time on how new the paint looks.

It's common Knowledge that Dish soap removes wax. Your going to not want to use dish soap on your car unless its before your applying a new coat of wax, then its a good practice.
