When I bought my car from a friend it didn't have a radio. After half a year of soundless drives, I finally picked one up at a flea market but have no idea how to begin connecting it. If anybody would be kind enough to point me in the right direction for first steps I would greatly appreciate it.

The used stereo is an Alpine CDM-7836

Here is a picture of my connectors:[IMG][/IMG] <P>Here is the back of the radio: [IMG][/IMG]

you need a wiring harness that connects to the stock nissan clips that wires up to the one you have with your radio.

Thanks above people. So you all can tell from the pictures that the connectors I have are mainstream enough to work in an adapter available at walmart or radioshack?

Is mine considered a "16 pin" system? Would this work for me: http://cgi.ebay.com/ALPINE-CAR....m122 ?

Does anybody know the exact product name/number I'd need? Anybody ever hooked up a similar Alpine to a 240?Thanks!

Go to Walmart and buy the connector that says 1989-1998 Nissan 240sx. It will be similar (not exactly) like this:

Now attach the colored wires to the corresponding wires on the connector provided with the stereo you have pictured above.

I like using these things because you don't have to splice the wires:(You can buy a pack at Wal-Mart).

Now plug the harness into your stereo and into the car's harness and make sure everything is working BEFORE you completely install the radio.

You may also want to buy one of these kit's (The car model will be listed on the package, but most are either Import/Domestic universal) so your install looks nice and clean.

Be very careful with it because they're generally crap plastic and break VERY easily.

Now install per directions, and kick back and enjoy some tunes!
