i just got a headunit for my 93 j30 and i am trying to install it myself. i have never installed a headunit before. i was hoping it would be as easy as cutting the stock harness and just splicing the headunit's harness into that, but i thought wrong. the wires of the two harnesses arent the same colors or anything, and i looked at the wiring diagram of the stock radio harness and cant figure it out.

so does anybody have like a webpage or something that says what each color of wire on the stock wiring harness is? thanks.

Gaaaah! NEVER cut a factory harness- get a harness kit ($6, eBay) which you connect (soldering's best, crimp-connectors work just fine if you do them correctly) to the harness that comes with the radio. Such as:http://cgi.ebay.com/BHA1763-Ni...wItem Search for a Maxima harness, get the pre-95. It will have the color code on the package, and your radio will have come with its own code (in the event it's one of the few left that aren't using the "standard" colors). Factory codes are all over the web, such as http://www.installdr.com/

Oh, and what happened to your light switch auction? It turned into a motorcycle

thanks for the info, luckily i havent cut my harness yet. so if i buy that harness on ebay, it will connect into my harness that is in my car?

btw, the reason my light switch i had for sale on ebay turned into a motorcycle is becuase somebody stole my ebay account and changed my password, email, and all my listings. were you interested?

yeah one side plugs into your factory harness and the other side you splice into the cd players harness and you're done.

Yup, that's the whole point. If you don't already have one, get an impact driver from the Chinese Tool Emporium. You will probably need it to get the screws out of the Bose head unit. They have seized-in over time. alright, thanks. but i dont think i will have a problem getting my bose head unit out.............its not even there while the previous owner had it, it got broken into and had the headunit stolen.

if you want, i will let you have the headlight switch for $20 + $10 shipping and i will end the auction on ebay.
