I have an 01 Maxima that previously had a Bose 1CD deck in it that had trouble playing discs. I swapped that out with the Bose 6CD deck. After that the radio control stopped working. I bought what I thought was the correct module for the radio, but that doesn't work either. Now I'm at a loss. I don't know if the problem is the radio or the controls. I am having a hard time finding info for it. Can anyone help?

Side note: I took the two modules apart and they're completely different. The older one has an IC in it with various circuits. The new one has only a few resistors.

After digging through the FSM, Nissan switched how the system worked for the 02 and 03 models. I'm guessing that you picked up a head unit from an 02 or 03, and that's the reason for the incompatibility. It looks like it would be very difficult to try and rewire, since the wiring is different, and would require going through the clock spring to get it to work.

If you want to take a look in the FSM yourself, the diagram for the 01 in on page 183 of the EL section, and page 196 for the 03.

Thanks the converted. It looks like you are right. That's a huge bummer, I really liked the steering wheel controls. It looks like I would somehow have to bring two wires from the radio up the steering column and into the wheel; not an easy task. Thanks for your help.

Sorry I didn't have a good answer for you. But welcome to NICO regardless.
