radio lights go out and A/C goes to full power and auto

kinda strange just randomly the radio display lights go out, like the radio station display lights, and at the same time the a/c goes from what ever it is set to ... to full blown auto econ setting.... and nothing is ajustable through the control buttons except the steering wheel controls... help

I don't know about the radio display, but on a 90-96 Q45 when the fan will only run on high and can't be changed to any other speed it is a bad Fan Control Amplifier located in the airbox behind the glove compartment. Over time the evaporator gets clogged with debris, the fan blades collect dust and dirt and get heavier, and the resulting increased amperage draw strains the fan control amp to a point where it burns out. Cleaning the blades and the evaporator face, and replacing the amp will solve the problem (on a G50). I'm not sure though why your radio dispay will be going blank.

yeah radio face plate has taken care of it every time for me. if you're not under warranty check face plate plug in the back of the radio. its a fail safe so that during winter you can still have defrost. can also remove the face plate and check connections covered by white plastic cover they may come loose if poorly assembled at the factory.
