Radio doesn't light with headlights on...

I have the stock tape player still. My stereo face is lit up until i turn on the headlights, then the face goes dark, but the clock, cluster, etc lights up like normal....can't remember if my ac stuff lights up, i don't think it lights up when the headlights are on either.

well first off you'd better stop posting because you're at 240sx posts . hmm...anywho...tired. more details are needed on your situation. has this always been a problem? is it consistent? wtv details you have to give. oh and do your headlights ever flicker?

yes its always done it since i bought, yes its consistant and no my headlights don't flicker

anywho..have you messed with your grounds at all(ground kit etc.)? your lights flickering(or dimming or wtv) would reinforce that buuuuut... i.e. my radio(just actual radio not c/d's) turns to static when i turn on my defroster. so i'm assuming the dash stuff(switches, gauges etc.) run pretty close together at least at one point or another.

first i'd check all of my grounds(easiest first) and then i would trace the wiring from the center console and from the dash. you could have some messed wires too, i had some that were not even visually bare but they were shorting. so even if a bundle of wires isn't sleeved right, stuff is too close together wtv that may be it too.
