There may be something you can do to restore your display, but it depends on whether or not the display goes on/off intermittently or out all the time.
If you are getting an occasional display or if when you turn on the radio, you get all sorts of LED bits that look like the Police Synchronicity (big Police fan!!) album cover, then you might be able to remove the front display and clean the connections on the back.
To do so, remove the entire center HVAC/radio unit and lay it on a solid work bench. Then, remove the radio from the metal brackets. Once you have the radio free, you will see 4 to 8 metal indentation tabs on the top, sides and bottom that hold the plastic display cover on. Carefully use a small pick, etc. to pry up the metal to release the plastic tabs. You cannot simply push down on the plastic tabs to release it!! Be very careful that you don't snap off any of the tabs because they hold the display tight to the metal radio frame.
If you are successful in removing the front display cover, then you will see two sets of 8 pin prong connectors that control the knobs, etc. sometimes, you might just have a loose connection and you will need to carefully bend each pin SLIGHTLY in the same direction so that it will have a better connection with the radio connectors. You can also spray the entire backside of the display with electrical connector cleaner and use a Q-tip to clean off any corrosion.
Installation is the reverse making sure you bend the metal tabs back in place to hold the plastic display tabs tight. You can use a small flat blade screwdriver so you are not tempted to apply too much force which could snap off the plastic tabs. It worked for me so far.
Now, if your display is gone completely, you might hae to have the unit refurbished and/or find a replacement unit from a bone yard/parts car.
Good luck and hope that works out for you.
