I want to directly wire my Sirius Satellite radio to my factory radio in my Xterra. I am trying to find out if there is a "Aux In" or "Line In" in the back of my radio before I rip out the dash to get to it? Does anyone know or could give me any help?

Honestly I have no idea how to answer your question, but I do welcome you to the club. Just give it a few and I assure you that someone knowledgeable to answer that question will pop in

There are no "AUX" jacks on the back of the radio. If you have an aux jack it will be on the front face plate. When we add sat radio at the dealer we have subharnesses we plug into the sat reciever and then to the back of the radio. If the vehicle is prewired we simply add the receiver which plugs into the factory wiring harness somewhere [where ever the prewired plug is taped to the harness]. This plug is nissan specific typical harness plug and the sat reciver is specifically made for nissan as an accesory.

It looks like the 06 xterra is prewired. The NBUS connector is located just above the drivers kick panel taped to the main harness.

So are you saying that I need a special plug? Or do you know of any other way to wire my sat radio directly to the factory radio?

You will likely need an adapter plug. They are prewired for either sirrus or XM and use that same plug for both. I dont know if there is any special protocal for them to communicate. I dont deal with the aftermarket realm much so I dont know if there is an adapter for them to work or not. There is a forum here on the site dedicated to audio, you may want to run a post in there and see if they know of an adapter. But again I dont know if nissan had the radio designed with a special protocal to communicate with the nissan sirrus/xm sat accesory kits or not. The radios nissan typically use are bose, clarion and rockford fosgate, they are just specially designed for the nissan vehicles so its very likely they will communicate with an aftermarket sirrus reciever with an adapter.

Go to Leeparts.com. You will find an installation guide for the 2006 Xterra XM and Sirus radios as a PDF file.
