My '09 Rogue radio has worked great since I upgraded the speakers a couple of years ago and it uses an external XM radio plugged into the Aux jack. About 6 months ago, the black plastic ring around the plug broke and the jack was then just loose and hanging in the plug. Nissan replaced the radio but now the plug is broken again. This time the plastic ring is intact but there appears to be nothing inside the plug. The XM is all we use in the Aux plug, so it's not taken in and out except for cleaning. Nissan is replacing the radio again, but I'm curious if anyone else has had problems with Aux plug.

I use the aux jack and it's always plug into my twin dvd's on my headrest. Sound is awesome compared to the crappy radio sound I get. Considering it's the base model you can get theater surround sound in Rogue. Umm not really...lol, but 4 speakers.

I understand why you might be damaging the aux jack since the plug sticks out.

Do what I did and go to Radio Shack and get the right angle adaptor. It is not obtrusive when the cable is plugged that way and I never had any problems of it breaking. Somebody may be accidently pulling at your plug too hard perhaps.

Also here is a comment from a radio shack user:

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Right-Angle Adapter:

This is a great product. I was looking for a compact right-angle adapter that didn't have a cord between the ends. A random perk is that when it's plugged into the side of my laptop if I move too much the adapter acts as a break-away instead of breaking the headphones or laptop port. :bigthumb:

Clev,

I've never had such problems with my AUX in jack. My Rogue is now 3.5 yrs old and I've used it since day one. Mind you, the cable is always plugged in... I never remove it.

No problems on our 08 but we have an iPod dock and the line out cable lives in the AUX jack.

3.5mm connectors typically don't hold up well to constant insertion and removal or any force applied to the plug connected to the jack no matter what device. You might want to pay attention to see if anything bumps the plug in day-to-day use. The Panavise bracket that I have tends to keep things away from the AUX jack.

Thanks for the replies. Again, the only time the plug is out is to wipe down the radio, and we remove it to keep from bumping it. It's my wifes car, we're older and have no kids; no ipods, no anything, just XM. If others were having a problem, I thought there may be a design flaw, but it seems that I'm the only one. Also I disagree if you feel unplugging and reinserting the jack can break the plug. That is the intent of an Aux plug. If it will not stand up to to 2 older people carefully unplugging to clean, then how is it supposed to stand up to most of today's family's with kids plugging and unplugging numerous devices?
