Radio always turns on at startup

Recently purchased a 2018 Rogue. The radio turns on every time I start the car. This is happens whether I turn it off before turning the motor off or not. It is very annoying. Is there a setting that controls this? I have not been able to find one.

There is no setting for that. I would double check the manual to make sure. My 15 Rogue would do the something similar but when I had the radio off it would stay off even when starting the car. Everything else except (Nav) would start up and the radio would remain off. I get the same thing in my 2017.5 Murano.

Try changing the audio source to aux before turning off the engine. Since the audio system automatically starts playing the last source used, as long as there isn’t anything plugged into the aux jack, then at least the car will start without music playing.

Here is the thing. If you left the radio on when you turn off the car, the radio will be on immediately when you turn on the car. The same will happen if you turn off the radio before turning off the car. This is how its supposed to work. Not sure whats up with your HU. Looks like Nissan will say you have a "defective" unit.

I have a 2018 and it does the exact same thing that the op's does. The radio will start anytime the car is started whether is was off or on when the car was turned off. My previous 2016 Altima did the same thing if the USB was selected when I turned it off. My work around has been to turn the volume all the down so I do not hear the radio when the car is started. It must be a 2018 thing.

I have no clue whats going on then. Looks like you guys have to report it to Nissan. But even then, Nissan won't give a dime about its customers.
